prewarcardcollector, legit?

(Thought I'd crosspost here since the vintage forum doesn't seem to be very heavily trafficked)

I recently was an underbidder in one of his auctions for a card I really wanted. He just contacted me, offering me the card at my high bid. Is he a good seller/can he be trusted? He seems legit, but just wanted an opinion on the board.

    I don't know anything about the seller but I can tell you that many of the offers to underbidders recently have been scams that didn't originate from the seller. Before you can consider completing the transaction, make sure you verify that the e-mail did come directly from the seller of the item.

    Is the e-mail available through the "My Messages" link on your "My eBay" page? If it is and the sender's name exactly matches the name of the seller of the auction, then it is probably legit.

    Oh ok, yes it's in the my messages folder and it's his exact username.

    On a related note, a seller contacted me as an underbidder recently. He had two examples of the same card in the same grade and I ended up getting a great deal on this:

    It measures 3 1/2 by 5 1/2. It's the size of the 1964 Topps Giants cards.
