Going to the National

Alright, I finally got the ok to go to the National from the wife (after much begging and pleading).image I will be going on leaving after work here in Michigan and driving to Chicago, about a 4.5 to 5 hour drive. I was just wondering without having to do a tons of research, the cost of the hotels near the convention and the cost? I will be going to the convention on Saturday and then driving home that night. Hope to cross paths. I will be wearing a green Michigan State shirt. Stop and say hi if you see me. Would like to put a face with a name.

At the center they run about $150 a night.

A lot of people I"ve been hearing from are getting them near the center via priceline at 69-79 a nite.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

Rosemont is a pretty small town and there are a few hotels near the center. FYI there is a Marriot a block away and then one about 2 miles away. There is a free shuttle between the Marriot's then to O'hare that runs every 30 min. My office is connected to one of the Marriot's and I take the shuttle to the airport a few times a month.

So if you can get a better rate at the one a mile out, you can take the free shuttle to the one 1 block away. Also, Rosemont Taxi is pretty quick and staying a few miles away may be cheaper even with cab fare.

    Zef is pretty on point.

The rates will be pretty much the same everywhere, so why not stay as close as possible?

I have told my wife and myself I won't spend over $500 this weekend, at least I will give it my best shot.

P.S. Kirk, I'm excited I picked-up the 1976 Topps #323 Ron Sperring PSA 9. It has been a super-tough card to locate in mint. I've been trying to get my hands on one for my '76 Registry Set, it seems forever! Enjoy the National! And seriously, no rush on shipping to me!

Griffins is correct. My son(Patrick)and I are already there,Marriott O'Hare,$75 a night thru priceline.I would put in $65 a night first(2.5 stars) and see if it takes. You definately want to stay in the O'Hare area and there are a lot of hotels here. With my son and I flying in,we wanted to stay close and we are 1.5 miles from the convention center.Room is super nice with internet access provided in the rooms.Bring your laptop.image

Please be kind to me. Even though I'm now a former postal employee, I'm still capable of snapping at any time.

Just got my hotel for the night. Staying at the Sheraton Gateway. Got it through Priceline for $50 ($64+ after taxes). Now I need to see how close that is to the convention center.

I think the Seraton Gateway is on Manheim. You are less than a mile to the Center.
