Gotta love those PRO's

The below auction is one of 20 going on from Greenwood-Collectibles. This guy sells high end cards in PRO holders and sends a free PSA card with it. Actually, that isn't even guaranteed, since if there isn't a PSA card available, he'll just send a card graded from another company.

I sent him an e-mail asking why the featured star cards aren't PSA graded. I doubt I'll get a response and I know the answer...they have been to the barber!! He keeps the bidders ID private as well.

I think it is pretty obvious that this guy knows he is selling trimmed product and throws the PSA in there to get more hits. Isn't there a rule against that on Ebay?

Not much we can do. He can use PSA in the title since he gives out a free card... that disclaimer about they may not get a PSA card he might be able to go down on - maybe he has never sent a PSA card? Hard to figure out considering everything is private.

I'm honestly suprised PRO hasn't gone down yet. They're a front for card doctors, and I'm no lawyer, but it sounds like they all should go down on the RICO.

I believe there is something against that in ebay rules. I know in other circumstances like involving Event Tickets, they state something about "Free" stuff.

jeese pvt feeedback and pvt auctions, wonder what greenwood is trying to hide?
    Good for you.
  • Related to that, a few weeks ago someone on this board posted side-by-side a particular card (I forget what card it was) in a Pro holder and another copy of that card in a PSA holder. He had re-sized and aligned the images in such a way that, when placed side-by-side, you could easily tell if one was shorter than the other. I've searched all over this site trying to find that image again. Anyone know how to easily do this side-by-side comparison as it seemed a great way to tell from scans whether cards have been trimmed? Thanks

  • I hadn't seen that, but something like that is very useful when stacked one on top of the other. That way you can pretty easily see if the cards are the same width and see the discrepancies on the borders. Thanks

  • I have sent several email to “PRO sellers on Ebay asking

    (1) if they would accept escrow until the card can be regarded by a legitimate card grading company?

    (2) why they hide behind “Private” auctions?

The responses I have received have varied from a simple “F U” to insinuating that my parents did not have benefit of clergy when I was born.

Avoid PRO cards at all costs.

If you haven't visited PRO's website, it is good for a laugh. They play it up as if they don't grade trimmed cards and say that finding an altered card in any holder is "stupid" What I really found funny is that they offer crossover service!! And have the gall to charge 10 bucks for it. I bet they get a lot of demand for that!
