OT- Coin budget took another hit....we bought a new car

Yup, after not having a car payment some time now we bought a new SUV Saturday. Our Crysler (sp) LHS finally needed to be traded in. Don't laugh now but we bought a 2005 KIA Sportage with all the trimmings. The dealer let us have one to test drive all day Saturday and we were very impressed with its performance. It has a 10yr, 100,000 mile warranty on the power train and a 5 yr bumper to bumper warranty, side impact air bags and a whole more. Anyway, a bite to the coin budget but needed.

  • Hey man, That is a nice ride. My inlaws have one and when my father-in-law (VERY, VERY large man) gets in it tilts like Fred Flintstones does when they lay those ribs on the SONIC Type Tray image

    Seriously though, Nice SUV!!!

I am not a gear head and absolutely hate buying cars - you have my empathy/sympathy.

We had a similar hit this month - the old car's AC gave out. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know you don't need AC in MN, but try telling that to my wife! In addition, there are several other things wrong that needed fixing - adding up to a very hefty repair bill.

Anyway, instead of getting gouged for all of that, we traded in that heap and my coin budget for a new vehicle. To add insult to injury, as I posted elsewhere, the driveway needs a professional re-do. I anticipate that we will have more such "coin budget" hits in the coming months, so it will be junk boxes for me for the foreseeable future!! Avarel, now is your chance!!!

We have already done the driveway thing. We had a new one put in this month. Got to get it done before winter sets in.

No I can say I won't be parting with any coins. Just means I'll be slowing down in purchasing them. I told my wife I may have to come out of retirement and look for some partime work for a bit.image

It seems like everyone is spending their coin budget elsewhere. THIS BATHROOM REDO took a chunk of mine.

It's always a shock to look at the way American houses are built. Over here, a wooden wall would simply be a curiosity, walls are always in bricks and the plumbing goes inside, not very convenient for repairs, but that's the way it is.

What an unfortunate situation that I cannot take advantage of. Between the ever present landscaping projects and fishing, coins are a distant third. While you're picking through junkboxes, I fully intend to be hooking trophy fish. Walleye or silver three pence, its a tough call......image

Congrats on the Sportage, its a nice vehicle.
