Overall excellent job IMHO. Hamie (now handling the Guide) is a real asset to the CU team!

Wow!!! Those prices are a lot higher aren't they?

The relative valuations look real good compared to how often they're encountered.

People used to laugh when I said that high grade '82-P dimes would go for more than
No Mintmark coins, though this has been true for a while if memory serves.

I think that it is a vast improvement to what it used to be, but still has a long way to go. I think that a certain # of individual coins have different prices to what I recently paid.

    ----------------------------------------65--------66 ------67---------68
    5162----1982 No P---------------350-----465------625------2500 - -
    85162--1982 No P FB-----------500------850----1750 - -

Yea right, I'll pay $1000 all day long for an 82-no P MS67FB. The price guide list it at $850...and a 68 is worth more then
a 68FB. This has got to be an error and I think you have to move all the prices for an FB to the left one grade. There are
a few other low pop 66FB's that the numbers are a little off on. Other then that it looks OK to me.

Now that a couple of years have gone by with the FB designation is PCGS going to update the silvers Too.

Edited to add that PCGS has fixed this. In record time I might add.... Way to go PCGS...image
I moved the values down to where they should be.

Nick: You are correct about their error on transposing the figures. I suspect it will be fixed next week.

Thanks Mitch that got fixed quick. Now PCGS needs to fix the 94P 68FB price. Price guide shows
it at $8,000. I think they added one to many zeros.....image
Am I correct on this one too.

I refuse to go more than $7500.00 for the thing. image

  • A vast improvement!

They list a 57p MS66FB at $400. The last one to trade was just the other night on Teletrade @ $210 + juice, so they still have a way to go!

Nick: I think $8,000 is a bit optimistic myself, but "$800" is silly low - probably somewhere in the middle.

Incidently, I believe the Silver Roosie prices are being finalized in the next week.

One sale does not a value make. IMHO the one on TT was a low end coin. I have sold several of these in the $300+ range and can't
keep them in stock. PCGS isn't making any more anytime soon. The price guide isn't going to be right on everytime but its pretty
close. Close enough that I use it as a guide for pricing.
  • Nickio,
Assuming you saw the TT 57 in hand, what makes you say low end?

Low end for a 66? or did you think the bands were subpar?? Just wondering.

Nice white spot free 57P 66FB's sell for $300. Attractive album toned ones sell for $300++ depending
on how pretty they are. Mint set or purpleish ones sell for what ever you can get. If I remember right
the TT one fell in the latter. Just because it sold for a couple hundred compaired to a few hundred
doesn't mean the price guide is way off. I've ripped many a coin on TT and ebay. It just happened to
be the day the other bidder wasn't watching. I've Missed just as many as I've ripped as I'm sure
everyone has. As to the value of a 1957P MS66FB. I think the coin is worth every bit of $350. I'm
not expecting to see a great increase in the pop for the date anytime soon. I have none to sell
and see the supply pretty well dried up for now. I didn't mean to criticize the coin that was on TT.
I never saw the coin in hand, only the TT photos. It just was not for me so that took one bidder
out. I consider the PCGS price guide as a retail price guide and that works for me. Roosies along
with many other 20th century series are weak right now. That may have played into the price a
little too. I sold a couple Roosies 2 weeks ago on ebay that went for half of what I had previously
sold others of the same date and grade for. I shouldn't have let them go but thats ebay, You
take that risk. I don't think that date is now worth half of what it was a month earlier. I think
the coins were ripped. Of course this is all JMHO......

I will have to agree with Nick on this one! The Modern market is a little soft right now and there are alot of sellers out ther just trying not to get stuck with coins they don't collect. I have purchased a few Roosies for sure that I think were undervalued. I purchased a 93-P ms67FB for $112.00 the pop is 9/0. As anyone can attest the 93 coins are tough to make in high end fb. I have not seen the coin yet to tell you if it is true high end or not, but for that price it's a steal!

Yeah Fred, thanks for the snipe on that one. image

This thread was inspired some of the posts here.

I sense that there is increasing grass roots demand for these coins and pops may
have to be far higher if the masses get into these. Since most of the highest grades
don't exist in these numbers more of the lower grade coins will have to be submitted.

    Sorry Dan,

I did not think my bid was going to win. I had a snipe in for $150.00 which I thought was too low. I was surprised to see that we were the only two bidders on that coin. I do need one for my set, but was not willing to go any hire than the 150,00 bid. You obviously thought it was worth less. I have not received it yet, you may be the lucky one.

No Fred, I didn't think it was worth less. I have looked for a 93-P67FB for two years +. But with my situation I can only bid what I have at the time I find it. And after waiting for one for that long I would gladly have bid $200.- $250. had I been able. Don't take my comment about the snipe seriously, you won it fair and square. I just wanted to pull your chain a little. I still need 11 coins (not counting 05's) so it wasen't like it would have topped off my set. Truth is I have taken coins out of my set that I was not satisfied with. Thats why I have been sitting in almost the same spot on the list for so long. Who knows, maybe Nick will come up with a 93-P67FB for his "LIST". (can you say time payment?) image

"maybe Nick will come up with a 93-P67FB for his "LIST"."

Dan, Unlikely I'll be putting one on my list unless one falls out of the sky onto my lap. What's on my list now is all there is going to be for
quite some time. As these are sold I will not be actively seeking out Roosies. I have completed a silver Roosie set for myself and have
put it away and have been bitten by a bug from another series, and its a big bite thats not going away soon.
