Would PSA do anything about this?

I bought this card on Ebay, not thinking clearly. image

Sure enough the card is improperly placed in the holder and it is damaged. Is there anything that PSA would do about it or am I out about twenty bucks?

Is the card in your hands, or are you only judging from the scans? If it's in your hands, I'd say that PSA will probably make you whole as they clearly made a mistake. If it's not in your hands, I'd say there's a good chance the card will be just fine once you get it.

    Hoping for door #2...
  • It's in my possession, now.

Sucks. I'd email PSA and see what they say. I'd also email the seller and ask why he didn't disclose that fact in the auction.

How is it damaged? It does not look damaged from the close up you provided.

Probably shifted during shipping. Tap the corner of the holder lightly on the table. The card should settle into place.
  • Actually, the card is compressed under the plastic border "nub". There is definitely damage to the card. I already tried tapping the case to see if the card will shift to no avail. It's in there solid.

Im confused, in there solid? that lip is tight. all my psa cards can be tapped and the card evens up. has the case been opened and that is why it has been crunched?

Looking at your case it appears that themid to lower right has frost.

i just looked at a case that i opened and that lip is created by mating 2 halves together, one is incuse. the only way that the card can get crunched (I think) is if the case was somehow compromised.

    Good for you.

Could be, but why on earth would anyone go to the trouble of putting a NM 1961 Minoso in a NM-MT Minoso holder? A Mantle or a Mays, sure, but this is barely above the level of a common. Crack out a PSA 8 Minnie and slide in a 6 or 7 for the sake of a few extra bucks on the sale? Then you have to pay to grade the 8 again. I don't see the point, on a cheap card.

If a firmer tap doesn't shake it loose, I would guess PSA must have sealed it that way. Poor quality-control, if so.

  • stop being a woman and give it a decent tap

I'm suprised it was able to seal with the card between the ridges... I've fooled around with cracked cases before to see and someone would have had to try awful hard to get a small edge/corner of a card stuck between the ridges... and 1961's are not on thin stock either...

Smack it around a little more... the card should move if you bang it hard enough, then you can assess any damage.

JR I wasn't implying that. I guess my use of the word compromised gave you that impression. I was thinking it was sealed that way or the original owner wanted to crack it for a raw set. in any event if the card is in fact wedged between the 2 halves it happened either at psa or after . the reason it happened I have no idea.

    Good for you.
  • they will regrade it - lower the grade based on the damage (that they caused) and sent it back to you. free of charge. image
