How high do you think this Ryan card will go?

Yeah, yeah, I know. It's a BGS, but I think it looks great despite the distortion on the crappy scan. I'm really getting that itch.

Link to auction.

Just checked the population report. This is the only Ryan that has even been graded BGS 9.5 and there are only two PSA 10's in existence. Man, I see this card costing me an arm and a leg if I go for it.

Weren't these cards distributed via a factory set to the troops in Iraqi back then? Pretty impressive that a 9.5 or 10 even exists. I have no idea how this card will go. You have Ryan collectors going for it and the DS guys, could cost you two legs and an arm.
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!

No, these cards never came in factory sets. They were sent overseas to the troops during the first Gulf war in wax packs. Supposedly, they were distributed evenly, but I never saw any myself. In fact, I didn't even know they existed until a friend of mine who was stationed in Saudi saved me a few cards from a (single) pack that some Staff NCO gave him. I was with the amphibious forces (4th Marine Expeditionary Brigade) so I assume none of the packs made it out to the Marines and Sailors who weren't stationed on land.

Needless to say, this particular set holds a special place for me and I've been snapping up the premium cards whenever I can.
