My wife said, "Somebody sent you a card like that?!?"
At first glance it looks fine.
You can see that the top suffered some stress fractures:
But the most interesting thing is that there is a spot that melted. It's approximately the size of the pad of your pinkie.
Not bad for a 1,850 mile journey.

Jay Wolt had a bunch of people send him cards like that last year to find out how they would fare, but I can't recall seeing the results.
Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's
Cool experiment. I'm surprised it wasn't damaged more considering the process.
You guys sure keep things interesting.
Thanks,
Peter
Vintage golf, 1981-82 Donruss golf, and a few other odds and ends.
<< <i>I thought the experiment was going to be a card in a top loader, card saver I or II. Did I just give someone another idea? >>
Yeah..that is what I thought too.........
1955 Bowman Raw complete with 90% Ex-NR or better
Now seeking 1949 Eureka Sportstamps...NM condition
Working on '78 Autographed set now 99.9% complete -
Working on '89 Topps autoed set now complete
I sent a Topps Giant loose in a regular envelope and it got there in pieces. The same happened to other loosely sent items.
They seem to take more care of them without envelopes than within.

MIKESCHMIDT had started the thread telling everyone to send me a slabbed card, and I rec'd about 2 dozen, and only 2 arrived damaged.
Ironically w/ the '71 Kelloggs Humphreys, I included that card to STONE (at least I think I did) w/ other stuff I sent him. I cannot throw any card away, so I include some cards w/ orders and such. Glad to know Mike recycled it...jay

I knew when I sent this card that you would pop up!

Why not see if someone else wants to receive the card. It will be like a PSA Stress Test!
Mike
maybe we should try various grading companies and enlarge the test group?

I sent this one to AJW and it came back for insufficent stamps - will be sending it back out!

Actually I am - I'm sending out an SCD holder also - it's made differently and I want to see if it makes a difference.
Stay tuned!
The funny thing is that PRO holders could probably survive a nuclear war. Has anyone tried to bust one of those open. If anyone has one(the card inside is likely wothless anyhow) they should try and send that.
