Which is better, I know it is hard to tell by a scan, would you pay more to have the 9 in your set?:

Personal choice but for me the 8 looks pretty darn good and I imagine it's a lot cheaper than the 9.

I wouldn't pay "much" more, but the 9 certainly presents better.

By pixel count the difference is only a pixel or two in horizontal centering.

The 9 is better top to bottom, although I don't know what the reference points are on this card - I guess the top and bottom of the letters, which would really point out the centering on the 8.

The 8 has the better left to right centering,
but the 9 has the more vibrant colors if you compare the green and yellow portion.

I'd be happy with the 8 until a 9 with better centering comes along.

I like the brighter more vibrant color of the 9 but if the 8 is much cheaper I would just get it.. they're very close in comparison.

Yeah but if those are two different auctions with two different scanners how can you say which one is better in the color department??
Each scanner is different plus who's to say that 9 wasn't jazzed up in Photoshop??

In addition to the centering and color, I think the corners on the 9 are a touch better.

What's the SMR difference?

Me, personally? I like a nice 8 - in some sets the difference is just too high and I don't compete.

Duh! The 9 is better because it's a PSA 9 and the last time I checked, a 9 was higher than an 8!
