HI,
I'm sure this has been discussed before but can anyone give me some tips on cutting cards out for grading from box bottoms. What does PSA look for when grading? What are the best methods/tools?? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks,
Mike

others may have more advice, but the dotted line thingy I have heard here many times.
good luck
also some keep the card(s) in panels too.
best you describe what you have so others can give you the proper advice.

What I'm trying to cut out is a 87 topps Walter Payton box bottom. Now the 87 football don't have dotted lines just a solid black line on two sides of the card and then nothing on the other two. What a pain but I need it for my Payton registry set.

I would suggest cutting a full 1/16 of an inch outside the black lines and see what happens. I personally think it looks stupid but I think that
is what they are looking for on the box bottoms. I don't see why the lines have to be there but who am I , the reason they are there are for ???????????????????????????????? oh cutting the card out of the box bottom. Sorry for the rant but I spent 12 man hours cutting out cards at office max to have them rejected.

On some of the Baseball box cards, like 88 and 90 Topps, they only have 2 black lines so I thought cutting it out 2.5 x 3.5 would have got them through? I don't think PSA even knows or cares about these cards? I think they are great for player collectors but they probably won't see a ton of submissions with them in there. I don't know too much about the Football ones but the Hockey bottoms are the same also with 2 black lines and I believe that the 90 doesn't have any black lines at all.
