Why do people even spend the time and eBay fees putting up an auction like that. They know they are trying to rip someone off, and 99.9% of the people that look at that auction know it too. And now he's going to get emails from people calling him names, saying he's a rip, or whatever. I waste a lot of time, but at least not like that.
This has gotta be a joke. He can't really expect someone to send him $1 million by PayPal (the only accepted method of payment) and then get away with it.
Another possibility is that it's a totally clueless teenager whose previous definion of "vintage" was a Derek Jeter rookie. Some older kid scammed him by making him think this Wagner reprint was real, and traded it to him for his entire collection of modern. The poor 13-year-old victim doesn't even understand how much $1,000,000 really is. Offer him a 2001 Pujols auto card and he'd probably forget the $1 million and swap for that.
Just an alternative to the Really Stoopid Scammer theory, which is much more likely to be true.
I wonder what he was going to sew. Maybe a bonnet? >>
I believe it was in the early 80's I purchased a nice pair of socks Wagner did during that infamous sewing spree. This was long before Ebay so I was able to pick them up at a pretty decent price.....
This seems to be the latest trend on ebay with immature scamming brats looking for attention. The reason these people do this is probably attributed to improper toilet training as a child. They really need to go see a counselor.
I just got back from traveling the world looking for this card. Boy am I pissed. This was my third time around and all I had to do was go on the bay! I'm gonna sew tew!
