Thoughts on ending an item and relisting due to error in title?

I wanted to know the boards take on this issue?

I made an error in the title of an auction, I put the wrong card #. The item went on about 12 hours ago and ther is one bid. The bidder pointed out the error after bidding so I was unable to make the change. Any thoughts on this issue would be appreciated.

I am unclear, is it too late to make any changes to the title? Anyways, if a person is bidding on the card, they should know by the players name if they need that card in spite of the incorrect #, I would think. If is a star card, a person needing that for his set will know that the # is wrong, still will need the card. I do not think that need to relist it, IMO.

I agree, and in this case it is an obscure card so noone would be searching by the card #. However, it is a 1/1 so when and if a potential bidder goes to check it in the pop report they will see the error.

The only thing that bothers me about it is like when people list a "1984 Topps Dan Marino Rookie #124." Only to go into the auction and see that it is the Marino Instant Replay Card because all bidders do not know that Marino's real rookie is card #123.

Maybe I am just a little anal when it comes to this but I am weary of card #'s in auctions because of the example above.

Stingray, After a bid is placed the Title and the description cannot be changed. If there are no bids it can be changed freely.

  • When I search, I search by title and description. If you add the correct description buyers should have no problem fiding the card. I wouldn't relist, just add the correction to the description. image

If you featured it, then obviously don't waste the relisting fees. If it's a $0.35 it may give you peace of mind.

    end the listing.
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!

End it and restart with a personal e-mail to the bidder so they can immediately reenter their bid.

I retracted my opening bid! Now you can correct the card #. I will then re-enter my bid!

    I hope this helps you?
