I like Damon but like he was really going to break Joe D's record anyway. Better yet, Tampa Bay has Boston's number too. If the Yankees win (I just jinxed them) they will be in first place all by their lonesome.

    I would have loved to see Damon take away one of those precious Yankee records - that would have driven the Bronx nuts!

    I think that a hitting streak record, especially with the media crush that would accompany it, would be very very difficult to overcome.

    Especially with all of the hard throwing Relief Specialists out there nowadays. Joe D's record is going to be the toughest one to break.

    I agree with that. Someone told me today that after Joe D's 56 game streak, he was held hitless one game, and then went on another 20+ game streak. That one game excluded, he could very well have had an 80 game streak no one would ever touch.
