SF (Ebay) closing prices! UPDATED 12-20! Check out the differences...

I was wondering where the pricing on these will go (I already have an idea but needed some evidence to support it) so last night I searched and averaged out all of the prices for every 2005 SF coin in MS68 and MS69. You can use this as a guide for buying or selling or whatever. Maybe check it out to see if the grading prices would be worth it for a borderline coin or something. I dont really care. I just thought it might be useful to someone.

Very useful info. Do you have the sample size for each that was used to derive the average? That too would be helpful.

As for where these prices will go, I have no idea whatsoever.

    Thanks for sharing...Mike

It is cool info to see.....and, trending and last couple of prices are good info to see, as mentioned.

cool info & nice work. I and many others I'm sure are hoping you'll keep this updated for a little while, it'll be interesting to watch the trend, so definitely keep all the old pricing when you post an update for comparison.

p8nt may not be a collectors club member? maybe someone who is could post or pm him the pops, which would also be interesting to see along with the pricing.

This can't be right, dealers keep saying the prices will keep increasing. Maybe we need to get the word out to more eBay bidders that they need to keep paying more for these.

    Thanks for the update P8nt!

Some of the initial surge of I have to have it first seems to be wearing off. And it looks like 68's might be a common as 66's were a couple of years ago. At least that is what I notice about the quarters and half's.

Great post. I don't know how many of you check out teletrade these days, I 've seen stronger money bid
on the sf coins than what is bid at ebay. Makes some of the ebay final prices look like a steal. There was an 05d WW in ms69 that went on Wed for $1650. May be a while before these hit ebay. But whats funny there, you don't see where coins you bid on actually sold. Some of bids are crazy money!

    MORE INPUT FOLKS...

I just had a 2005-P Lincoln MS69RDSF on eBay for one week...reserve starting at $59.99....IT DID NOT SELL.

I just had two 2005-D Lincolns MS68RDSF on eBay for one week...reserve starting at $29.99 THEY DID NOT SELL.

Two or three weeks ago, people were paying $90+ for MS69's.....and $30+ for MS68's.....

Now...you can barely unload the 68's for more than $20 and the 69's are going for barely $40!!!

Seems to me the only people that are making real bucks here are the lucky ones holding the 70RD's!!!!!

I just got a nice pair of 69RD's back from PCGS on my 4 free gradings and I'm stuck holding the bag on three 68RD's....oh well.

I see the beginnings of a career in research, thanks for another update image

There was a post on the US Coin Forums about where are the Roosies, and it still applies... where are all the Roosie auctions? where are those coins going? Are they really all being submitted by collectors who intend to keep them? that just seems too weird.

My 2005-P MS69RD SF Lincoln Cent just went for $46 on eBay. Down from $80???? Talk about prices spiraling downward FAST! My two 2005-D's Lincolns in MS68 are on the BIN board because they didn't even sell at $19!!! The only people that really made out like champs are the guys that had their coins into PCGS first. No one knew what kind of pops we would see.

I am a perfect example. I paid a dealer $34 for a 2005-D in MS68....and am having trouble selling it at $15 because I got back a handful of 69RD's from my free gradings at PCGS. Guess I should have waited, huh? When I start feeling blue about a $23 loss...I just remind myself of those people out there paying thousands for the MS70 specimens!!!!

Quite a few of us have some in right now. I almost thought about telling PCGS not to grade them and Ill pay the return shipping... I think Im going to break about even.. despite all the work.. and cut up mint sets.. and shipping.. and effort to sell them... Ugh.

    ellewoodellewood Posts: 1,750
Luckily, I didn't pay a red cent for either of my 4 lincolns to be graded. All 4 were sent in on "freebies" and I was 3/4 on 69RD's with only 1 68RD. I did spend the $34 on the 68RD before I knew what I was getting back from PCGS image

Good luck with it...maybe you'll get a break and get the 13th 70RD!!!!

Hey p8nt- I have found this coin collecting hobby to be a "learn as you go experience" -- if you break even in dollars and cents you are still way ahead in the learning and experience department. I know you are on a limited budget and every dollar counts but you are quickly becoming one of the "good guys". By that I mean you are honest, hardworking and people come to take what you say as the unabridged truth(at least I do)- nobody wins them all but the ones that remain are the ones that keep on plugging away. My theory is the next submission will be "KILLER" and I don't dwell on the past ones. Keep up the good work and live for the next submission. PS I remember your first post 6 months ago- Look at what you have accomplished in that short period of time. I am somewhat new at this myself and have come to realize there are certain people on the boards who are real experts at their chosen specialty. I come to depend on these people for help. I now concider you one of these people because of the "massive " effort you have put into the tracking on these Satin Finish coins. My rules for success at any given endevour are Don't Lie, Don't Cheat and Tell the truth. So far it appears you you are a success. Keep up the good work-I am depending on youimage---Don/the mademan-

    Great work!!!

I honestly believe that a lot of the 68s and 69s sold were true bargains.

I know it is still early but pops in low 100s range for less than the grading fees is a steal.

Ebay is flooded with 05 SF coins from people trying to get their money back.

I have had over 300 2005 coins graded already and I am a buyer on Ebay!

    My friend Mr Paint...

After a year tracking Jeffersons for the price guide I did last year, you might find the quest you've started to be overwhelming at times, but I for one, can't wait to see how this one turns out.

    Keep up the good work!
