I think this dime raises the question "Is it toned or is it tarnished?". This dime appears to be tarnished and not toned. It's an AU dime worth $.75. Just my opinion. Andy
I would disagree. Tarnish is what happens to silver over time when it interacts with air (unscientific explanation). Toning is the coin interacting with the "chemicals/suybstances" around it. Any coin can tone, silver or not, but only silver coins can tarnish. Andy

I'm glad to see your first two posts on the PCGS Forums were so productive, trying to do harm to what people are selling. This happens to be the "Buy, Sell, & Trade Coins" Forum, not the U.S. Coin forum where such discussion would be appropriate. In case you didn't notice, the coin has been graded and encapsulated in a PCGS slab which *believe it or not* costs money to have done. Trolls like you won't last long here.

Uhhh...dipwad...the silver is undergoing a chemical reaction regardless of whether it's with the air or any solid material it is in contact with. The air we breathe is made up of not only the oxygen, nitrogen, etc. (which, by the way, is chemistry) but also the chemicals of pollution. So, toning is a perfectly acceptable term. Why don't you just log off, re-register under another name and start all over again rather than live with the stigma of an idiot.
Remember, it's better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

Thank you for your well though out post. You must be one of the bullies I've read about that inhabit this forum. I'm glad that you seem to be in the minority. I will not re-register, I will stand by my posts good or bad. Andy
<< <i>So if I take a common coin worth $1.00 and have it slabbed, does that mean that it is now worth $15.00? Andy >>
Ummmm.... Actually it means the entire package is worth $15. Your paying for the coin, the grade opinion, and the protective encapsulation. Do you go to therapy for your issues or do you just annoy other people for no reason to make yourself feel better?
