  • Wasn't there a discussion a while back about a seller selling these exact same 2 cards? Same seller maybe? I believe the scans were "liberated" from a major auction website back then.

There is no chance that the 1979 Ozzie is his. That scan was lifted from somewhere...

    Two Words - Stolen Scans.

Stolen. He also listed the first Spiderman comic that didn't reach the reserve last week and used the pictures from that auction. It didn't reach the min at $9700 so I'm sure he bought it outside of ebay and has decided to flip it already. LOL

Do they not know there are serial numbers on graded stuff?????

    Dear Group,
I live in West L.A. (about 5 miles from Century City). I emailed the seller asking
him if I can inspect the card in person. I'll post his response if I receive one. Thanks.

Unfortunately, both of these are still alive and kicking. I doubt this will get him much anyway - the 79 Ozzie scam auction is only at $46.00 (the card has an SMR of $3600.00) - still, you feel bad because someone is going to bid high on this at the end, and get taken.

I seem to remm that too.

    Good for you.

I emailed the guy who had the comic last night and I guess he got to the seller. The seller pulled the auction this afternoon. It already had a $3000 bid on it.

One person saved some big $$$$. I just wish ebay would cancel auctions if you show them where the scans come from.
  • I've been throught this with ebay a couple times. One time someone stole my scans AND text, nearly word for word, WHILE my auction was still running. You gotta love it. Anyway, I turned them in and the auction was gone fairly quickly. Other times I've turned items in that didn't belong to me, but also included stolen scans (not mine), and they did nothing. I since found out they will only act IF the original copyright holder (the person who the scan belongs to) files a complaint. Bad thing is that if the original copyright holder does not want to be bothered to file a complaint, then the auction will probably end on it's own.

  • I also wish ebay would use common sense - if you can prove one auction is a scam, then there's a good chance all of them are scams... and the ones that aren't scams are just low dollar "feedback booster" auctions...

One of these days some investment group is going to pony up the money to finance an online auction house that doesn't put up with this kind of crap. We can only sit and wait--- and, might I add, SUPPORT that new auction house when it finally puts up it's shingle.

Uggh - Over $1,800 this sold for and the buyer doesn't appear to be a scambuster.

I bid on the Nolan Ryan 85 mini and received an email from the owner of the card from the last Mastro auction to stay away. I knew something was up when nobody had bid but I threw a low bid out to see If I would win the Card If he takes Paypal and I pay with that doesn't he have a trail to him?

I would be very causious on buying such a nice card from someone who has a 1 feedback. I hope the high bidder realizes that this is a scam.

  • I was the high bidder on the 75 Brett card and have already notified ebay of this seller. I did not pay for the card. As a matter of fact when you click on Paypal, it states this seller is not set-up to receive payments. Hopefully that will stop other people from being ripped off. I have been a buyer and seller on ebay for years and hate when people like this get on there and try and rip people off. I want to thank all the collectors who emailed me and told me about this forum. It's nice to have real collectors out there looking out for other collectors.
