Anybody know what a nice Guinea 1968 Commemorative Proof Set is worth?

I checked out an antique store this morning while my car was being inspected. They had very few coins. They only had some reproduction Chinese knife money and a 1968 proof set from Guinea. The proof set was pretty nice looking with decent cameos. They wanted $85 dollars for it. I have no idea what one of these is worth. I did a search and the closest I found is a 1969 set that is very similar to the 1968 set. It is at Link and they are asking $120 for that one. Anybody know what the 1968 set would be worth? Thanks.

My Krause sure doesn't have that information. It doesn't show any coin dated 1968, let alone a proof set, from Guinea. image

Same here. No proof or mint set listed for 1968.

There is a seven-piece 1969 proof set listed (presumably the one shown in your picture), which lists for $120 (obviously, they priced that one you saw using Krause).

So the 1968 set is packaged like the 1969 set?

Yeah, it was packaged the same way as the 1969. I thought for sure it was a 1968, but I guess it must have been the 1969 if there is no listing for a 1968. The coins looked like they had the same designs as the ones in the 1969 set that I linked. The set was in the back of a glass case with other stuff in front of it. I had to look around the other stuff to see it so I guess I just misread the date. Thanks, so I guess $85 isn't to unreasonabe then? I may have to take a closer look at it the next time I'm in town.

    Weird.

But it isn't totally unknown for stuff to not be listed in Krause.

... I would be wary, however.

I think I figured it out. I just went back to the site that I had the link to and reread the description. It says that for the 1969 set "(Coins each dated 1958-1968) Mint Issued Proof Set, seven coins." Link to page which includes descriptionSo I guess the 1969 proof set contains coins with the date of 1968 on them. image
