    Let the guessing begin?

First thing I thought of is a sports personality like Candiotti - not sure how much the guy owns.

The only celeb I knew of sold his stuff off - Sheen.

We all know Olbermann has a boat load - but who else?

    I'm going with Candiotti!

With this being his top stuff, he may be thinning the herd? Or still, what about Keith?

  • reminds me of the seinfeld episode where george bought an '89 lebaron thinking it belonged to jon voight the actor when it turned out to be john voight the dentist. can't fault the seller though - he spends a few bucks to get this crap on the label, and even gets a story about his imaginary friend.

we should start getting our "oc" cards on ebay labeled, "the nomar's scams collection", knowing him, he'd bid, win, and then say they're "1 of 1's" when he went to scam...err... resell.

Mr. X would get more money if he truly is famous and his name was on the slips. Which do you think would sell for more- a Plank from the "Mr. X collection" or a Plank from the "Mr. T collection". If it's from a famous collection from a famous guy, it's more of a showpiece. "I pity the fool who don't buy my cards!!"

In the last Tuff Stuff, T.J. Swartz had an add stating that they were selling off a T206 set 20-25 cards at a time. I am going with Sheen, wild guess!

The whole Mr. X thing is pretty silly - an entertainment figure that doesn't want attention?!? - but I am happy with the two cards I purchased from this hallowed collection.

As for the Magie, if one can live with paper loss, it looked nice for a 1. The Plank, though, looks like poop. If I were going to spend $30,000+ on a card, I think I'd want one with good registration. I know it's an incredible rarity, but you'd have to be sporting beer goggles for the image on that card to come into focus.

My guess all along has been Sheen. If it were Olberman, he'd probably get more promoting that they are his cards, and Candiotti doesn't seem like he'd be selling anything.
    Who is Rober Maris?

They said the person started assempbling the set 20 years ago. I don't think Olbermann has been around that long. I also don't think that as a 22 year old rookie, The Candy Man making a league minimum(which is not peanuts, but not 20k here and 30k there to burn) probably didn't start collecting until he knew he was around The Show for a while and started making some more bucks.

I would think it is Sheen as well because he has been in The Biz for 20 years has had some negative pub through the years which could actually hurt the resale of his collection. I am not sure, but I think your wife divorcing you while 5 months pregnant my be an additional knock to your already tainted character. JMO

It could also be a Show Businessit that noone knew was a collector.

It's been probably at least 15 years since Olbermann went on Sportscenter because I remember being in college and making fun of the way his eyebrows look. And he surely was on TV somewhere locally before that. I was thinking it might be Nicholas Cage who sold his large vintage comics collection last year, but he had them slabbed with his name and there was no wish for anonymity.

All I know is if I bought one of those cards I'd send it in for reslabbing without that dorky Mr. X name on it.
