What is it?

I am not into world coins but I picked this up from a guy selling some coins at my friends pawn shop with a Canada silver dollar and a 1915 Cuba 5 centavos. I dont recognize this coin. It is about the size of a half dollar and has a D under the eagle on the reverse. The guy had a bunch of other coins but theywere all modern coins, mostly Canadian cents. I offered him $5 for these 3 and he took it. Figured for $5 why not.
