Mattingly Basic and Master set complete

Well, for the time being I have reached 100% completion on the Mattingly Basic and Master Registry sets. With the probable addition of further cards to this great player's set, the hunt will always be there. I do have several 8's in the sets that I would like to upgrade, if someone has a 9 or better they would like to trade or sell please e-mail, it would be appreciated.

Mattingly was a great player! That 1984 Donruss card is one of my favorite cards of all time and it's what really starting getting me excited about starting the '84 Donruss set in all PSA 9 or better...I'm almost there.

Great job on completing the player set!

PS. I have two Mattingly autographed pictures professionally framed by a friend of mine that has done framed pieces from stars here in South Florida like Alonzo Mourning and such. If you are interested in one let me know and I'll send a pic to you with the info on it.

  • Why is it so difficult to get a PSA 9 Donruss Mattingly these days? I was passing them over at $45-$65 in the spring / winter and now I can't find a decent one anywhere near that price...
lemme know if someone has one.
  • Any of Don's minor league cards worth anything?

    What's an '84 Nestle worth?

Per SMR Don Mattingly Minor League Cards are valued at:
    1981 Nashville card $160 PSA 10.
1982 Columbus Clippers Police set card $240 PSA 10.
1982 Columbus Clippers TCMA card $510 PSA 10.

The 84 Nestle card is no longer graded by PSA so is not listed in the SMR. I would like to see PSA grade the Nestles again and mark the flip as HAND CUT. Until PSA starts grading the Nestles again I would put the existing graded Mattingly cards at the same value as the 84 Topps Tiffany.

Hey TFC, first off congrats on your accomplishment.

Secondly, i have a question for you. A couple years back i sent in to PSA what i believe to be at least a solid 9 of Mattingly's 1982 Columbus Clippers Police Set card only to have them send it back unslabbed with a sticker on my cardsaver stating " ? AUTHTCT "

Do you know of any reason why it was not graded ? Are they claiming it's counterfeit ? I bought the card many years ago, i'd say at least 15 years ago.

Just wondering if you have an opinion as to why this happened. Im thinking of maybe trying again to send it in

    thanks, Dave

I have never seen the designation "AUTHTCT", give PSA customer service a call and see if they can help.

    thanks again, Dave
