1962 Topps Stamps

I have a question regarding the 1962 Topps Stamp panels. I have several, and I have noticed two variations. One has a complete white border around the yellow or red bacground like this:

Complete white border

And the other variation has the colored ink going to the top portion of the black outline.(I realize the grade is O/C, but the image centering is what that refers to):

3/4 White border

Does anyone have a preference or know of a reason for the variation?

Wow, what an eye for detail you have! It took me a while flipping among the pics and your description before I figured out what you were referring to.

It is my opinion that that is just an offset printing problem. I've got 36 of the player stamps and they all have varying degrees of centering within the inner black-lined border...

    Coach,

I'm not an expert, but I'm not aware of any reported variations on the stamps. The 1962 Topps PSA Set Registry has a nice write-up on the set and mentions a variation regarding the stamps in the second to last paragraph:

"Inserted in the regular wax packs were single player stamps, which totaled 200 for the set and were either bright red or with yellow backgrounds. In 1962, you could order a stamp album for only ten cents. One player, Roy Sievers has two stamps, one as an Athletic and another as a Phillie."
