Question for Aussie bronze collectors out there

The 1925 Penny in F condition is valued at US$12.50 in Krause. I have been checking websites that Cruzi has provided me, thanks Chris I really appreciate it, and have seen this coin listed for A$70 - A$140 in Fine. Is Krause really that far off?

  • The 2005 McDonald price guide for Australian coins has the following prices for the 1925 Penny:

    VG $A100
    F $A160
    VF $A275
    XF $A1000
    AU $A5000
    UN $11,000
    CH UN - $18,000
    GEM UN - $A32,000
    PROOF - A$115,000

Note that Australian grading standards are much tougher than US ones....and the aove price would probably be close to the ones that you would see in a coin shop here.
  • The 1925 and 1946 Pennies have become big movers recently, becoming very sought after in almost any grade as many collectors believe these have been undervalued for quite some time.

The prices Ozzie gave are the current retail values, but at an auction recently a Choice Unc 1925 Penny went for over $35,000 AUD. (US$26,000 odd)

The best possible senario would be to find an US based dealer who uses Krause to price his stock image
