Anyone know Set Registry owner "DRS"?

WoW. I watched in the past month or so a new 1962 Topps PSA Set Registry owner ("DRS") slowly post a 100% complete Basic set (#6 all time) and a 99.02% complete Master set (#2 all time).

Does anyone know who this person is? His email address, in conjunction with his sets' names, seems to indicate his name is David S. It looks like he may be trying to complete a run of all Topps regular issue sets from 1952 on. Impressive!

I was wondering if he purchased Bosox1976's completed '62 set based on the quality and timing of the new PSA SR additions.

"DRS", if you read this, please share your collecting ambitions with us!!

Thanks...

    TWINRON,

Now, are you being facetious or do you know if DRS monitors these boards??

Just curious. I'm waiting for Stone to post his picture.

    Thanks...

David is an accountant in westchester county new york, he is a great guy. He purchased the 65 set from mikevt last yr. he has since upgraded the charley smith card from 7 to 8.

He is an avid collrector and like I said a great guy to boot.

I wonder if he just bought the completely graded '62 set that was on ebay and then sold off ebay? A board member was advertising it here during the auction and then ended the auction early. I believe he stated that a board member bought it and that person purchased the majority of the set.

What was the asking price on that '65 set? 25K?

  • I am David R. Selznick (a very distant relative of the movie producer - he left me no money!). I am a Tax Attorney/CPA in Westchester County, New York.

I collect those years that I like - the 1952 Topps being my all time favorite. I am just about done with with my first set in all PSA 7 as well as a Master Set in PSA 7. In the process, I purchased a few collections in order to fill in cards that I was missing with the intention of selling off those that I did not need. Instead of selling off the duplicates, I began a 2nd collection which is about 90% complete in PSA 6/7.

I started with the 1955 Topps and Bowman sets (the year of my birth) and am working on a 1957 Topps set (my wife's year of birth). I also collected 1953 Bowman Color as I think that is the one of the best looking card sets.

As for my interest in the 1960's, these are the years that I collected cards as a kid. Those cards had long been thrown away. I would like to assemble sets from 1962 - 1969 (I have the 1962 - 1965 sets).

I did buy the Mike Toohey's 1962 collection.

I do prefer consistency in grades, so am willing to trade down for cards I need in exchange for cards I need to upgrade. If anyone needs cards that I have that are not part of the consistent grade goal and willing to trade for cards that are consistent with my grade goal, please let me know.

It has been a pleasure for me to meet (via email and phone) a number of fellow collectors and assist one another in our collection goals (and have even given free tax advise to some).

Please feel free to email me at anytime.

Congrats on a very nice collection you are assembling
  • I have been out of the country for a while and missed this thread when it first hit the board.

David is a first class person and businessman plus an avid collector of high grade cards from the 50's and 60's.

His reputation is impeccable and he's not too shabby on the golf course either.

I would highly recommend David to anyone wishing to do business with him or his firm.

    miami3,

I had lost track of this thread. Thanks for bringing it back!!

    David,

Thanks for the update on your collection! It's always fun to learn why people collect what they do. That 1962 Topps baseball set was the first I tried to complete buying packs when I was an 8 year old. Since then I have completed raw sets of 1962, 1963 and 1968 Topps baseball. I have quite a few '64s thru '66s, but have no ambition at this time to complete them, raw or graded.

After joining PSA and lurking on these message boards for a short time, I decided to try to complete a PSA Set of the '62 Ts. Recently I bought a lot of Mike T's PSA 6 and PSA 7 cards you didn't need, or perhaps they were from his second Registry set. (BTW, those set listings disappeared from the Registry. I thought all sets with 90% completion were on forever. Mike, did you request them to be removed??)

I'll have to see if I can help you out with your set. If you need anything from my set (see "Borch's '62T Master", let me know. I'd be honored to say I contributed to the completion of a quality set like yours!
