Choosing a car over my cards... again

I have not bought a single card on Ebay in a month... have not read these great message boards in the same time... have not sent a single card in for grading... and all because, at age 37, I am like I was at 15... obsessed with getting a new car! At 15 I put away my cards to save money for a car (and chase gals too, of course) and stayed away for 10 years. Hopefully this last month is just a one month thing. At 15 I poured over Auto Trader, newspaper classifieds, etc... and now I am obsessed with cars.com, autobytel, and the auto forums at Edmonds.com and others. Anyway, I talked myself off the cliff and did not buy a used 911 or M3 as I almost did... but instead got a new Infiniti G35 coupe. 6 speed. Love it so far! NO, it's not a mid-life crisis... it's a pre-mid-life crisis. I want to be able to buy a 911 in the future when I have an official mid-life crisis! My card buying budget is now smaller but I better go check Ebay for some can't miss PSA graded cards I have to bid on so I don't forget about our great hobby again!

Yeah, I here you, the budget is a little tighter. The wife and I just bought a 05 Trailblazer and a 25' travel trailer for camping. The pop-up was just too small for the family. Now we have to pay for storage of the camper.

Oh ya, technically the wife and I bought my new coupe and it does have a back seat so the kids can fit! image I made sure she knows this is her car too... and one day maybe she will drive it! image

The car thing and card collecting go hand in hand IMO.

The wife is happy with her 02 Acura TL and I had one also until 8 months ago. Then I started to feel like it was too used @ 37K miles. After some wrangling and a promise to not buy a new car for at least 3 years I bought a new Acura TSX. Love the car and won't have trouble keeping it for a few years, then upgrade.

I think I have had 6 cars in eight years, so you can understand her viewpoint.

Of course I just seriously increased my income with a new job......so who knows.

It's the same with cards. You get into streaks and buy, buy, buy. Then other things get in the way and you have to slow down.

My luck is having a wife who enjoys sports and cars and works the finances to keep me in new toys.

Good luck with the G35. That's a nice ride.

Congratulations on the G35 - my best friend has one and he likes it a lot!

I think ya shoulda gone with the 63F Set - it goes 0-60 in 2.5 secs and gets 175 miles per gallon!!!
