So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
<< <i>HOW ABOUT MIKEY 3 RUN DINGER AGAINST THE BRAVES TONITE?? LOL METS ON YOUR THREAD! >>
That was a good game Chris
The pitch to Piazza was supposed to be high and outside but he put it high and OVER the plate!
Give credit to the strength of Mike - it looks like he went after the high fast ball - elevated the height of his swing just a bit - and had the pure strength to go the opposite way for the HR. At least that's the way I saw it?
Tuff game for me tomorrow - Glavine is pitching against Smoltz! You know how much I like Glavine - but being a Braves fan?
Of course, one game means nuthin but I call it sweet revenge A-Rod hitting a Homer off of the MOUTH of Boston. Do you remember how much Schilling mouthed off about A-Rod after Bosox won the ALCS? I do.
Like losing their last four in a row to be the only team in MLB history to choke a 3-0 lead?
Now that's funny

Vintage Mo too!!!! >>
Sweet revenge, eh? Winning a regular season game is "revenge" for the biggest choke in MLB history?
HA!

Oh, how soon you forget about 1978 and Bucky, 1986 and the Mets, the 1999 ALCS, and 2004 and Boone. The Yankees have 26 World Championships and 13 Pennants. What do the Sox have again?
Never said a thing about the Sox and their lack of bought championships, such as the Yanks'.
I was talking about the biggest choke in MLB history... You called this game sweet revenge...
But hey, if you can be satisfied from last season's collapse with a regular season win against a starter-turned-reliever in his first appearance coming of the DL... More power to you, I guess...

Mike this is vintage mets vs braves! we win the first to only get us mets fans really up like we are gonna make something happen! then we lose the next 3 like always ! hopefullt not this time... how many times i have said that i could be rich!
gemmy you know what i told you ill stand firm.. canseco wasnt lying! and i think giambi might be giving the ole sauce one last run to fame before he is done.
Yes, I remember. I just don't think he would take a chance will the authorities breathing down his neck, not to mention that he was very sick last year. He would have to be awfully stupid. Also, I think that he is one of the few, if not the only one, who told the truth under oath to the Grand Jury.
As much as I think doing steroids is wrong, I give Giambi a lot of credit on how he handled himself. As, you probably know, Tino was one of my favorites, and I never thought they should get Giambi in the first place.
Yeah, instead of Slamming Sammy it's Skinny Sammy.

How did Giambi handle himself that was so graceful or honorable?
Had the BALCO testimony not leaked, would he EVER have admitted it? Let's not forget, it was a full YEAR after his testimony leaked that he kind of, sort of, fessed up to taking roids. (and even then, it was a half-assed 'I'm sorry'...though he never said what he was sorry for).
He never offered to give back part of his contract. He didn't accept going down to the minors and do what was best for the team.
Giambi is a cheat, a liar, the worst kind of athlete. He profited from cheating, he made $125 million from cheating and using illegal substances, and he's supposed to be redeemed because he struggled this year now is doing alright?
Typical NY yankee fan. Had this been a player on the red sox, you'd be calling for his head on a plate.
I wouldn't party too hard - it's only one game in a regular season, and it looks like you will be bringing in a few rookie pitchers to get smacked around this weekend. But, if this gets you "even" for last seasons historical collapse, then that's great with me!
<< <i>I give Giambi a lot of credit on how he handled himself. >>
What? Are you kidding me? As Axtell said, he handled his cheating like a coward. He never admitted anything, never apologized, never came clean and faced the music like a man. Rather, he chose to keep quiet, and in effect, try and hide from the obvious. Fans throughout the league are not fooled however - just listen to the boos everytime he comes up to the plate.
<<Giambi is a cheat, a liar, the worst kind of athlete. He profited from cheating, he made $125 million from cheating and using illegal substances>>
How many others did also? You will never know. For all you know the whole 2001 Record Breaking, Choke to the Yankees, Seattle team could have been Roid Droids. Just think about it. And they choked to boot.

So it makes it ok to cheat and lie because some others did too? That makes it ok to cash in on that cheating, even though you violated federal law in obtaining and using illegal substances?
Answer me spammy: how would you feel if it had been Manny Ramirez in his shoes? David Ortiz? Any of the BoSox?
<<Answer me spammy: how would you feel if it had been Manny Ramirez in his shoes? David Ortiz? Any of the BoSox? You are such a hypocrite it's not even funny.>>
You are missing the point. This is the Steroid Era. For all you know 50%+ of the players could have been on steroids as Canseco suggested. As a baseball fan you got to live with it like spit balls, razor or substance enhanced baseballs, and grease balls. They might not be illegal in law but they were illegal according to baseball rules and it was cheating also. If you can't live with the fact that many of your heros might have been juicers you might as well root for Figure Skating.

That's just so wrong in so many ways...
It shows your character, Gemmy. Not like I'm surprised though.
I know why you create new threads into the night after a Yanks win... You don't have anyone to participate in your celebrations, do you?

I hit it right on the head, huh Spammy? When you get called out, you respond one of two ways. Either changing your story or posting numerous emoticons.
That's too bad. I would pitty you if you hadn't brought this onto your self...

Are you watching the Yanks get pimp-slaped by Boston 12-1 with your right hand?

kuhlmann, another Droid Homer tonight. What's gotten into him? Is he still a Roid Droid?
at least big mac was smart not to lie under oath!

Well that will make the Yankees winning the division all the more sweet. Often the winner is one who in spite of injuries finds the resolve to win.

Nice quote. Sounds like Schilling last October to me...

Brought your complete inability to face up and admit when a yankee is a poor example of what sportsmanship or class is about.
But seeing your posts here, I can see clearly you have no idea what either of those are.
