A tale of Two Cards..Timing is Everything

A few months back I mentioned on this forum that I was surprised and excited that I had won five 1961 PSA 9 baseball cards for about $60 each, they had arrived and were beautiful. A veteran on the boards mentioned that "timing was everything" sometimes on ebay when it comes to final prices. Well , I have to agree!
Two 1977 Topps #476 Rookie Catchers cards featuring Dale Murphy and graded PSA 9 ended on ebay in the last 24 hours. The first one wasn't centered as well as the second so I placed a minimal bid and lost as it ended up closing at $104. On the second I bid around $75 and won it for $61. The difference between the two cards on ebay was $43! Just a matter of timing and interest I would guess, and I am a happy collector.

I hope it turns out nice. You got a pretty good deal on it. The last 3 or 4 on ebay have gone in the $70-$80 range.

All these examples seem to suggest that if two or more identical auctions are ending around the same time, it's better to be the first one if you're the seller. The next thought is: Check eBay before you list your card, to make sure an identical card is not ending shortly before yours would.
<< <i>On Sunday night I sold a 1984 FU Clemens PSA 9 for $415. An hour later another PSA 9 sold for $311. I imagine the second buyer is

Where did you see an 84FU Clemens PSA 10 sell for $800? In the last two weeks on eBay the range has been $910 to $1160. In the weeks before that, they were selling for $1100-$1200. (SMR is $980) I guess there was a surge there for awhile and now the market is starting to settle down.
Someone lists one right afterwords and it didn't even get $600.

Just check it went for 910, I thought there was an SGC 96 that went a bit cheaper too, but centering wasnt too desirable.
