The '83 Topps reverse, for example, the cardboard is a dull color with uncolored, natural cardboard borders. While the OPC reverse is brighter-colored, with a kind of, "neutral-colored (tanish)" cardboard borders.
While it is tough to notice the gloss finish on thru PSA holders, looking carefully at the front of a 1983 Topps #100 Pete Rose PSA 9 and a 1983 OPC #100 Pete Rose PSA 9, at first glance, they look almost the same. But trying to look thru the "gloss of the plastic PSA slab, the Topps version looks like it has just a little more gloss on the front surfaces, verses the front surface of the OPC version. Tough to see a real difference between them (i.e., the front surface) thru the PSA holder.
