You had to figure he was going to get attention like that...it's a travesty he was allowed to participate. That appeal to his suspension had to wait until after the all-star break?
By the way, what's up with Torre calling him, and asking him not to use Rivera in the game? Why should he be given special treatment - to keep him rested for the upcoming Boston series? If he didn't want Rivera to pitch, then he should have begged out of the game, like Pedro did.
As we speak I am on the other line with Joe to ask him.

I think Torre wanted the best of both worlds - to have his guy there and representing, but not playing.

I was thinking the same thing - how funny would that be! Third inning, Rivera is called from the bullpen - and he stays out there! His arm would probably fall off by the 7th inning, though.
But, I want him in there when they play the Sox...for obvious reasons.
