I've wondered about that too. Since these big auction houses tack on a "buyer's premium", one would think they would bid higher on ebay since they are not going to be surcharged.
Ive always wondered if there might be more exposure from an auction house than just putting the card on ebay. Theres no way to prove either way however.
If the current high bidder ends up winning the auction, I think it's a safe bet that at least someone thinks it'll go for a higher price in a major online auction.
I think it creates too much of a conflict of interest when an auction house puts their own material in their own auctions. How much material in a Goodwin auction are things they own rather than consign?
