I know nothing about Mexican coins, but based on the 2004 Krause North America book...

First, basic info: It's KM110 (if I'm wrong on that, disregard the rest!). Listed weight is 27.0674g of 0.8960 silver (.7797ASW). And they were minted at Mexico City with the Mo mintmark before the 8R on reverse.

There are four types of 1810 8 reales: 1810/09-HJ, 1810-TH, -HJ/TH, and -HJ. 1810-TH is the rare/valuable one and we can rule that out (these are the letters after 8R on reverse). All three others have the same values: $25/VG, 40/F, 75/VF, and 145/XF. Mintages aren't listed.

Now, since I know nothing.. what are these TH and HJs, etc if they're not the mintmark? Mintmaster?

    The T H - H J etc are the assayer's initials. This example is worth about $35 - $40.

Having just taken Richard Long's course on Spanish Colonial coinage (1536 to 1812) at the ANA Summer Camp in Colorado Springs, I can tell you this is a Ferdinand VII 8 Reales piece, H.J. are the assayers' initials of Henrique Buenaventura Azorin and Joaquin Davila Madrid but since there is no "J" in Latin, they used an "I" instead). This piece is not rare, but if you have a 4 Reales piece, it can be very rare. This coin circulated as legal tender in the United States until 1857 an was worth a dollar, so it might have been in circulation in this country instead of in Mexico. image
