Thought I would get some good karma by sharing my findings..

When you're paying for something won through eBay by PayPal look for the coupon box/gift certificate box thing where you can enter these to save a few bucks..

10% off the ending value with a maximum discount of $25 CATLSP051025
$5 off $50 or more CATLSP050550
$15 off $100 or more CATLSP051500
$10 off $50 or more CATLSP051050

Not sure if they work or not.. haven't won anything lately but it's worth a try.

I recently had a 10% coupon sent to me from ebay that did the same thing. However, that code was only supposed to be used once and expired on July 15. Maybe this is a permanent type of thing. Youd better use it while you can though.

Mike, good question! I was about to use the %10 off and then I realized that the $5 on a $50 item was the same thing so I used it instead. I thought I was being smart by not using the %10 off. Does anyone know if they work more than once?

Got them from the Beckett message boards.. I imagine they have been used many times. Take advantage of them now as I doubt they'll last very long.

You can use each coupon once I believe. I have used the 10%, 15 off 100, and 10 off 50 already.

I also saw these codes on a deal forum(fatwallet.com)

I have a payment to make, and the item price is less than $100, but with the shipping cost added the total due is over $100.

Can I use the $15 off $100 or more coupon code, or does it only apply to the item price (not shipping), meaning I could only use the $10 off $50 or more coupon code or the 10% off the ending value?

No, it's not wrong, and it's not stealing.



Sharing Coupons

Some coupons that you'll receive from eBay can be shared with other people, and some can be used only by you. If the coupon contains a specific email address, then only the owner of that email address can redeem the coupon. If you are the owner of the email address, but the email address is not included in your PayPal account, you'll need to add the email address to your PayPal account. If the coupon doesn't specify an email address, then you're free to share it with others.

As far as the shipping pushing it over $100...I would think that you CAN use this as Paypla charges their juice on shipping as well, so I think they view it as a lump sum and not amt + s/h. JMO

the way they work is it is for one item not a total invoice. If you have 10 items for $100 you can't use the $15 off $100 because no individual item was sold for $100

I don't believe you will get the discount with the total cost(item cost+shipping). You will only get it on the cost of the item.

I recently bought something for $31.00 on ebay. Shipping was $4.00. I used the 10% off coupon and paypal deducted 3.10 from my costs.

I think that's true. They e-mail these "general" codes to members (based on what criteria, I don't know), but they work -- once -- for anyone who uses them. I believe there are also coupons specific to the e-mail address, that cannot be used by anyone else. Coupon codes are floating all over the internet, and the vendors love it because those are more customers they wouldn't have otherwise had. PayPal is no different.

It's just like grocery coupons. Instead of Skippy enticing you to buy a jar of their PB instead of Peter Pan's, PayPal is enticing people to send money through their system instead of by check or MO, because they get a % from the seller. Obviously that % is not always going to equal the discount from the coupon, but they are looking at the big picture. They want people to use their service, and when they figure they don't need any more help they'll drop the coupons.

I just sent payment to one person for 2 auctions. One was for over $100 the other $400. I used two codes for the one payment and seeing I was paying for two autions it worked. Saved $40 ---THANKS

I just made a PayPal payment today. I typed in the 10% off code and it was accepted. I'll have to see if it comes back denied later.

I'm waiting to get a "transaction denied" type of email from paypal, but haven't yet. Maybe it was just a fluke.
