Anyone have any experiences with AGS grading?

I generally try to snap up as many '91 Desert Shield Clemens as I can, but I'm hesitant about this one. Even more so than buying them raw. Anyone has any past experience, either good or bad, with AGS?

The picture is really horrible also, but I'm willing to let that pass of the seller doesn't have a digital camera or scanner.

AGS cards are very good!! I think its one of the best kept secrets. Their grading is on par with PSA.

I recently bought some 1988 score update Alomar rookies in AGS 10. They are every bit as GEM as I could imagine.

Don't hesitate to bid on AGS cards.

I've bought one card from them 3 years ago.
AGS 10 92 Stadium Shaq. Biggest piece of crap.
The card was a 7 at best. I emailed AGS and told them
they were either blind, drunk or retarded. Never heard back.

Desert Shield cards were counterfeited (fake logo on a regular Topps card). I would be very hesitant about relying on an off-brand grading company to detect counterfeiting.

There are some cards I would feel comfortable buying in an AGS holder (lower condition mainstream '50s & '60s cards). This is not one of them.

Advanced Grading Specialists - one of my favorites. Actually it looks like they're temporarily out of biz?

If it weren't for PSA, they would be my next pick! This will definitely sell you on the company.

Looks like another fly by night company. I have seen very few of these at the big shows that I go to on the weekend. Though I would not ever purchase any of there stuff.

Well, he updated his pic and I have a better look at the card. The seal looks "OK", but you never know.

Condition wise, the cards looks decent. Maybe not a PSA 9, but it definitely doesn't look beat up. I might consider it.

Advanced Grading Specialists has been grading sports cards since May. It has already graded over 500,000 cards and is currently grading over 7,500 per week.

Mike, I hope they're gone. Hmmm Shop At Home. That makes them as solid as WCG (World Class Grading). Anything affiliated with SAH is gold. I know that most of the 500,000 cards they've graded are mainly 1991 Fleer Update cards (mainly I. Rodriguez & Bagwell). I'm also sure that over 100,000 of them are 1991 TT Bagwell & Giambi. These were mainly the cards I saw graded on the bay with the PSA tag in the title. Good riddance!
