What would you do?? A Darkside poll...

OK, you have $500 to spend on coins. You show up at your local dealer who just took in a huge darkside collection. You find out he already dumped the junk and there are 6 coins left. Coin #1 is VF and has a Krause price of $1000 and the dealer will let you have it for $500. The other 5 are BU and have a combined Krause price of $1000, and again you can have them for $500.

Do you..
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

    It depends. If the VF coin is one that is in my area of interest and more rare than the 5 BU coins I'd got for that. But if the VF coin is pretty common or something that is not in my area of collecting I'd go for the 5 BU coins.

    Since I buy for eye appeal I would bbuy the 5-BU coins image

    If I needed it for my collection, the VF coin. If for resale, the BU coins.

    Since I'm new to the darkside coin realm I would be a little unsure, as of yet, of the VF purchase so I'd be going for the BU coins.

    It all depends on the coins. If I felt that the BU coins were high-end (MS 63-66) I would probably buy them, because Krause only designates uncirculated. However, if the VF coin was British and the BU coins were from another country which wasn't of as much interest to most collectors, I would probably go with the VF coin.

    Since i collect hammered it'd be VF. I'd be wary of any coin marketed as BU.

    I would choose the VF one.

    It completely depends on the coin. If it's an 1850 shilling in VF, I'll buy it. If it is a set of 4-5 veiled head florins in BU, I'll buy it.

    Not only does it depend on the coin, but VF is a pretty broad spectrum for a grade and if it is truly rare, not often seen and this coin is quality for the grade, I may opt for the VF.
