To Grade or Not To Grade?

Alright, just pretend you pulled a huge 1/1 card, would you get it graded or not?

Comments

  • nope
  • On a modern card, I don't see how grading it would increase the value, unless you're sure it'd grade a "10".
  • What's the card?? I sell a lot of moden and I would say no. I've just never seen the point of doing it.
  • A week ago, I would have said don't bother. It's a 1/1 its not going to make it any more valuable right.
But I just sold a 1/1 BGS 9.5 and the purchaser said he only buys "graded" 1/1's.

So if there are only a few people out there like that - it will increase the number of potential customers.

With a 1/1 card, I'm not sure it really makes that much of a difference. With a 1/10, it might. Proof

A lot of the modern serial-numbered cards with their GU this and that, won't even fit in a PSA holder because of the thickness.

I agree there's not much point as far as the grading. EVERY card produced today is a pretty much a 10, isn't it? That's why the $1,000 card AJW linked to has me scratching my head. Is Billy Butler guaranteed to be the next Pujols / Bonds / Mantle, all rolled into one?
  • I'm fairly certain that the card like ajw posted come in uncirculated holders, so most of them are probably 10's lol.
