The Smell Test

I wasn't going to post this because the guy seems like a nice guy. He has a reprint up on Ebay and I gave him a heads up that it was a reprint. He told me about the smell test and that it is a "foolproof way to authenticate validity". Oh well, here it is. To think I have been paying PSA to authenticate when I could have been smelling my cards. Like I said, he is a nice guy but I couldn't let this one go.
Smell Test for 1913 Cobb
Description:
1913 The National Game Ty Cobb. I would grade the card in good plus condition, the card looks like it came out of a deck that got alot of play out of it. The image is still quite strong and has no creases.Obviously a lesser condition card that can be obtained at a reasonable price.Good Luck. I've been notified by a knowledgeble collector that he believed this card was a reprint as some unscrupulous characters are taking reprints and trying to make them appear original. I can see that it's obviously not difficult to fool a novice. I bought this card over 20 years ago, before they were making reprints of this set and even though this card may appear to be one of those altered reprints,as any knowledgable collector learns very early is there is one foolproof way to authenticate validity and that is the smell test. You can't duplicate the musty odor of a one hundred year old card and this definetely passes the smell test. It's real.

That, and she looked yellow so I let her mellow.
