I think Berk Ross and Wilson Franks played together for awhile, and Dan D. Chips was on that team. Johnston Cookies might have been the manager.

A little side info on "Berky" - he was at a bar one nite with his buds and he was knockin down some long necks when a hot young girl came up to him with two baseballs in her hand.

She runs up to him and says..."Mr Ross...you're my favorite player in the whole wide world and my brother thinks you're the most!...would you sign my balls, please?" Ole Berky looks over at her...or should I say his eyes were trained on her chest the entire time...and said..."Sure, you sweet littl' thang...I'll sign yours if you'll kiss mine?" image

He was always known as a sensitive guy.

Anyone else have any "Berky" stories?

Diana Ernestine Ross (born March 26, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American soul, R&B and pop artist, and one of the most successful female artists of her era.

    Music career
Diana Ross (who originally went by the name "Diane," although "Diana" is what is on her birth certificate), together with Mary Wilson, Florence Ballard and Betty McGlown formed The Primettes in 1959. After signing to Motown in 1961 and replacing McGlown with Barbara Martin , they changed the name of the group to The Supremes in 1963,
shortly after her brief marriage to Baseball hero and future Hall of Famer, Berk
Barbara Martin left the group shortly afterwards, and the group carried on as a trio. Although all the girls originally took turns singing lead, Motown chief Berry Gordy made Diana Ross the permanent lead singer starting in 1964, because he felt her soprano voice had the pop appeal The Supremes needed to cross over to white audiences. Between the summer of 1964 and the summer of 1967, The Supremes released nine #1 hit singles and became the most successful black performers of the decade.

Berk Ross was a great player. Especially that one season when he broke those records. And that catch he made in that World Series game - spectacular. Hard to believe he isn't in the Hall of Fame. I think there should be an immediate investigation into this!!!
