1990 LEAF guys...

Dang!

Is Roger WAY off-base with this open? I know Roger likes to fish, but this one got me to wondering. A 1990 leaf common at 200 bones??? I can't imagine it ever getting hit for more than 20-30 bucks. Even that seems stiff. Are these things actually fetching that kind of lettuce?

It's way too high at this point. My only guess is he was trying to see if the #1 set would buy it. The bad news is the #1 set shows this card as a recent upgrade. Also, the pop is now at 4 (from the pop 2 listed in auction).

I would guess this card is now in the range of the other 10's he has list now at $5-$10.

It's important to remember that 1990 Leaf is EXTREMELY hard to find in high grade. The set is very condition sensitive and I believe collectors have realized this through the years. Back in 1990, people didn't collect and hoard baseball cards like they do today. Many 1990 Leaf fell victim to the spokes on a child's bicycle and the few high grade PSA specimens that occasionally pop up command serious premiums.

By the way..remember the thread a few weeks back? Someone asking why people "hide" their sets on the Set Registry?

    Nuff said!

What? Maybe back in 1970 this would apply but not 1990.

1990 cards went from wrapper (pack) to wrapper (top loader).

    Yz,
I checked eBay. WOW! Interesting to note, that the guy hit a 29.99 BIN on a Trevor Wilson "1/4". 1990 Leaf are great looking cards to be sure. They have crisp stock, a cool mix of photos, nice star content and can have nice color and eye-appeal. I think it's wild how driven some folks are to complete their sets in holders at any price. Can you even imagine paying $200 for 1990 Leaf Bryan Harvey PSA 10 with a population of 3??? I'm not sure I could have enough money to make that pencil. I suppose if it were a 20 card set I'd do it, but with hundreds of cards...WOW! That is the most surprising hammer price I've seen since the 81 Donruss Tim Raines PSA 10 sold three years ago to Dmitri at over $1000.

  • Those prices on the 10's are nuts.

That made me do some searching too - I wonder if there are any 10's in this

  • I haven't been here on the sports card forum of late and was just checking in. Are '90 Leaf that hard to get good examples? Can't remember if I had the '90 or '91 or both. Were they the ones that came out in two different series? I know they were hard to get here in the sunny South and finally found some at a salvage place that was able to buy them. Are they worth digging out or just let sleeping dogs lie? I have been out of sports cards since '90 or '91 when I boxed everything up and stored em.
