Need suggestions...

Hi guys,

Need your opinion on something. Im pretty much fed up with the hobby and about to call it quits. But at the same time I want something to hold onto to cherrish and pass down. Which leads me to my question. Should I sell everything I own, mostly Yao Ming Rc cards such as his Ultimate Auto graded bgs 9.5 , Bowman Rc Auto bgs 9.5 , Spx Auto Rc bgs 9 and 10 of Yao's Finest Rc Autos to get a shot of the entire set of the 1986-87 Fleer Set graded psa 8.....

What's ur take?

    Sell sell sell.

    Bud: How much is enough?

Gekko: It's not a question of enough, pal. It's a zero sum game, somebody wins, somebody loses. Money itself isn't lost or gained its simple transferred from one perception to another.

    Yes and no

    sell all that stuff

do not have an 88 fleer set graded (i assume it is baseball)

if it is basketball and you feel the cards are 9 and 10 quality and the set holds some special meaning to you then YES by all means

Please do not sour on this wonderful hobby. the hobby aint bad it is just some people in it that blow.

in any event teach good luck

I would be fed up with the hobby too, if all I collected was Yao Ming RCs.imageimageimage

Sell it all and buy something else like a nice PSA graded Mantle to pass down.

Sorry to hear you're fed up....my suggestion would be to place everything in the closet...unless you need cash real bad....and don't touch the stuff for one year. Then see how you feel about the hobby.

Sometimes a good vacation from anything aint such a bad idea.

Right now, more and more of the threads have been about "other stuff" - IMO, we are taking a mental holiday of sorts also.

Good luck and if you decide to sell - I agree with Knucks - a really cool hi end card like a Mantle would be nicer down the road to show off than an 86F Bkb set in PSA 8 holders.

    See ya next year?

I like your repsonse "stone". Basicly i was fed up with the hobby about 10 years ago. I haven't put dime one into any of this new "crap", and IMO "crap" since 1995. I decided basicly to concentrate on my 1954 Bowman Baseball Set and my Rod Carew Master Set, and i have now started a 1970 Dad's Cookies Hockey Set. I thought these cards looked cool about 3 months ago. I have picked up 2 complete sets in NM/MT TO MINT condition. I have received several 9's and a couple of 10's and will eventually get the whole set graded and will list it all at one time in the near future. So that is pretty much my "hobby".
  • I was fed up in 1992 and completed dropped out until this year. I've started selling all my stuff bit by bit. A lot of the cards I'm sending to get graded, the rest I'll sell slowly. The reason I left is b/c too much crap, can't afford it and couldn't make extra change without investing tons of money.

I do still get enjoyment out of it especially with my 2 boys. They are quite happy when I give them Clemens and Bonds cards. In the last year I have purchased a few items only to sell them. I did subscribe to Tuff Stuff, SCD and SMR which keeps me involved. If I were to provide a comparison, I do a lot of window shopping but no buying. If I were to collect I would peruse the old basketball tall boys from 69 to 71 and baseball from 71 to 75 which was when I first started collecting.

Ultimately you do what makes you happy. Good Luck....Eddie
