2005 westward journey set

The two I had ordered on the day of issue arrived yesterday. Now it is in hand I don't like it enough to hang onto so they are heading for flea bay. Do you think I should sell both or will the price rise in the future, like the 2004 set? Also is there a way to search ebay for recent finishing prices or than watching a number of items until they end?

Thanks in advance

Dr J

This link shows completed auctions for the 2005 set. On the left side of the screen "Completed Items" is checked. For future searches, after checking or unchecking one of the boxes you will need to click show items.

Keep in mind that there were 75,000 of the 2005 sets and only 25,000 of the 2004 sets.

So the 2004 sets should bring a larger premium over the 2005 sets

There will be a 2006 set released next year and will be the last of series.

Anybody else scratching their heads on this one?? image

I thought that 2006 was the return to a modified Monitcello reverse with the current 3/4 obverse?

    Oops! I mis-spoke.

The first day cover series will have a 2006 entry, with the new Jefferson obverse and Monticello reverse - Not the Westward Journey series

Looks like they have already doubled in price. If I ever get the ones I ordered I'm going to hang onto them for a year or two.

I think they will go higher.

If there is a 2006 coin and medal set like the 04 and 05 I think the price will boost when it's released.

If there is no 2006 set then I don't see the similar jump like the 04 has done.

I got five and sold four to cover their cost and um e-rrr some other............ miscellaneous stuff!

I'll keep the one I have for now cause I consider it a freebie!

If I were you, I'd go ahead and sell the one set to cover your costs so far then sit on the last one! If they go upm you win, if they go down, you've already won! Yea!!

Thanks for the update relayer. I try to keep up on this stuff but suffer from acute distractionitis! (Is that a word?)

At any rate, I can hardly wait to see what the new reverse will look like!

    I bought 3.
One sold already and covered the cost of the other two.
    One is on eay now.
The last one is a keeper for my collection.

It's too bad they didn't do a better minting, or a proof, of the peace medal and put it in a capsule like the others. It's the real stinker in the set that made me decide to unload 2 out of 3. If the price shoots up in a year or more, I'll sell my last one too and buy something nicer.

I'd sell soon. There's nothing to drive the prices up. Many are paying alot for the 2004 because they want this years and the 2004 together. They'll be no motivation to go after the sets next year. They don't really contain anything special. Just MHO
Everything I write is my opinion.

    Looking for alot of crap.

I would not anticipate higher prices for these. The present $55-$65 market is a good one to sell into.
I heard they were making a French version of Medal of Honor. I wonder how many hotkeys it'll have for "surrender."

I agree mostly with your assessment, the one added influence may be when the Mint stops shipping them out.

There may be some still hoping for thier order to be filled and when they are not fulfilled therre may be another increase in the price.

That's what I thought with the 2004's -- I sold most of them in the $60-$70 range after I got mine. Now look at 'em. Oh well, I still have a few left and I more than paid off the ones I bought...

Just checked the US Mint site and it says:

    5 units shipped on 07/09/2005

    Hope to get them soon.

    I ordered then on 5/26

    Joe
