Were Type 1 gold dollars minted in high relief?
I read that Type 1 gold dollars were minted in high relief, and that is the reason for their relatively poor strike. I know that the Type 2's have poor strike because they were not designed well (highest points were opposite each other in the dies). Does anyone know if Type 1's are considered high reliefs (generally)?

I suppose it's just an odd coincidence that the designer of the coin and the originator of thisthread have the same name.
