2000 UD Yankees Master Set: Anyone Know How Many Ruth Cuts Pulled out of the Opened Sets?

Referring to the 2000 UD Yankees Masters Set, out of the 200 or so opened sets, does any one have an idea (based on what they've seen or heard) on how many ruth's have been pulled out of the opened mystery packs?
Does anyone know if upper deck was nostaligc with the numbering process (i.e., the given number, or a certian multiple thereof, contained that mystery autograph?)
Thanks!
ES
Also, does anyone know the status on the 99-00 UD NBA Legends Masters set? Where any might be available?

He also said that he has seen most of the big pulls on ebay, so the chances are slim.
If this is the same set as we talked about before, it has a reserve of 1500$ and if it has been compromised, it's not worth that kind of money IMO. The genuine chance at a great auto is the key to the set for me.

Well I didn't it say that way but what i did says was:
NBAfan, the "Mystery" card is the only one sealed in a blue pinstriped cardboard wrapper which I would think would be easy to reseal. Howerver the whole set is double sealed, first in a soft blue pinstriped cardboard box which is shrink wrapped as in the above auction, then this box is inserted in a thick white cardboard box which is sealed with the Upper Deck logo written on the sealing tape. It appears that the one in the above auction was taken out of the white box. I would not buy the set unless it was still sealed in the white box.

esaslo, most of the 500 sets have been opened. Out of those 500 sets I can account for 102 sets which have been broken up and sold in piecemeal including the box..
Hmmm......
Good Luck on your Mystery Card
Why should I want to contact him?
LOL. Yeah, right. The odds are 0/500.
So yes, you're all right, I won this "sealed" set at 1625.00.
I also won a sealed" Ali set a month before at 1225.
How do I know if they are indeed, "sealed".
When I contacted Upper deck, they told me that they do NOT have hologram celephane shrink-wrap on them.
Let me know our thoughts.

Does anyone have any idea on how many of the RUTHS have been pulled?
I have NOT seen a SINGLE one to this point.
Let me all know your thoughts.

Have you opened the set yet?

When the sets first debuted I saw 3 or 4 Babe Ruth Cut Signature cards, both with and without the GU Bat, on eBay. I have not seen any in a few years though.
I own 3 sets, 2 which I bought SEALED. I will say this one more time....based upon my experience a sealed set comes in a thin cardboard pinstriped box which is shrink wrapped (no Upper Deck logo), This box is further sealed in a sturdy white cardboard box which is sealed with packaging-like tape which has the Upper Deck logo on it. In my opinion, if that tape seal is broken, especially if the blue pinstriped box is removed from the white box, it is not sealed to me.
easlo, what was your "Mystery" card?
stone193,
What was the point of copying esaslo's post?

I just edited it - I inadvertently placed my question within his text "quote" - so my question shows up like it's a quote.
Check back - I asked him if he opened his set yet.

<< <i>Yeah, I asked him too. Stop on over to the Sports Talk Board. Gemmy is partying tonight. LOL >>
I was watching the game - I gotta say, I like Ruben Sierra and am glad that he came back and has found a spot with the Yanks.

I have gotten all of the at pennies on the dollar, from their MSRP, and none have come in the "outter white box' you're talking about.
At this point, I am only short TWO sets, from having them all. But what I am curious about is the "bonus" items with each set". For example, the Yankees set came with a baseball, the dodgers with a mini bat, and the Lakers with an autographed Kobe Bryant Jersey. Does anyone know what the bonus items were for the other sets? Or does anyone have ACCURATE upper deck prodcut release sheets for any of the sets I've listed?
Thanks!

ESaslo, I am not saying the set is not sealed but I won't buy it unless it had the sealed white box. There are such things as shrink wrap machines. Why take the blue box out of the sealed white box? Is there a reason if one is not going to open it?
are you travelhockeymom?
I added 10 Yankee master sets to my cart at mlb.com and checked out. The next screen showed 2 available @$4900 each, so there's a 1/250 chance of pulling something good there for the price of a new Kia.
Did you pay though? That will be $9,800 please. LOL. I really wonder how many set are still out there in the sealed white box condition. I don't think there are many.
Upper Deck even removes one set the sell from the "white box" and opens it for display purposes.
From what I've been told, most dealers who are actually trying to sell the sets on internet auctions remove the white boxes to get PICTURES of what is acutally inside the white boxes.
This is plausible.
If anyone has any pictures of their sealed (but out of white box) master collection sets that I could compare with my sealed (but out of white box set) I think this might be a good way to put the whole story to rest.
What does everyone think?
ES
So, just for the record, we think there is, perhaps, 1 Babe Ruth, 1 Lou Gehrig and both Martins still floating around in unopened sets?

Quicksilver Messenger Service - The Hat (Live) 1971
This white box was the actual "shipping box" used by upper deck to send the set to the person in, as, from viewing it, it had the address and fed-ex label on it.
I guess my other question is why my Ali Set (which I think is the rarest set of them all) didn't come in a white box!
ES
PS: I am still looking for an NBA Legends Master Collection. Must be sealed. Make offers if you have one.
I would easily trade my master collection for a John Hanock or an Adams or a Jefferson, etc. auto.
ES
By the way, this forum wouldn't let me spell John's name correctly
<< the product came yesterday, and it was sealed in the white shipping box that was being talked about.>>
Was it sealed with packaging tape with the Upper Deck logo on it? The photo in the auction was the blue box outside the white box.
2000 Yankees Master Collection Complete Bat Set 10 Card
I mean, for example, we've been told that set seven (#7) (if I remember correctly), had one of the two munsons.... and we know for sure that at least 200 sets are open and have been sold in parts, and that, most likely, another 225-250 sets have been opened that we don't know about... making about 50 sealed sets left in total in the world, by my estimation. Looking on the internet, you'll see there are a total (and looking very, very hard) of six sealed sets for sale; however, three of those places use the same back end database and are selling the same sets, so, in reality, there are only 3, there. (I had to email each and ask for serial numbers and/or shipping data on the white box----ps, great tip on all the white box data).
Still, any thoughts on my ali set?
And guys, look around for me for the NBA legends set. please. I know you can do it. It is now, ALL I NEED! (And, based on MSRP, i've purchased every single one, sealed at approximately 28-30% of MSRP.) So that means i'd be willing to pay 1500 to 2k for the sealed nba legends set---or trade something, perhaps a case of something, or something else----completely different. Or, I work for a 501(c)3, so I also have the ability to give a tax write off as a "in-kind" charitable contribution, something most dealers take quick advantage of. For example, the case costs 1K. They'll sell it to me for 750, and I'll give them an "in-kind" contribution of 1250.00, which translates on your taxes to a refund of about 375.00, depending on your tax bracket. Plus, they are benefiting childrens education. That's what I actually do with a LOT of the product I get----we hold charity events; however, I can only use product I get via cash AND the "in-kind" form in the charity events.
Thanks for listening, all! I still think the idea of trying to place mystery cards with actual serial number sets is a good one, because I WOULD NOT PUT IT PAST UPPER DECK to match them up in some way. i.e., have some pattern that they know where each MAJOR pull is going to be for the Yankees set.
Does anyone have the ebay records on the three or four Ruth cuts sold from this set or remember the serials of those sets there were sold from?
I majored in applied mathematics, chaos and graph theory (The theory of randomness and how something really isn't random given a finite number of points). I really think that there, especially for the MASTER COLLECTIONS, HAD TO HAVE BEEN a set distribution of the BIG PULLS. It just couldn't have been random, because of how fraglie and expensive everything was; they couldn't juts throw them in a bin and shuffle them up. Someone generated it on the computer, and then placed them. And he used an algothrim. If we figured that out, woah, that'd be great. I'm sure it is possible. Serial on my set is 221. I think that's a good serial. A lucky one. but I've been having bad luck health wise-----very bad luck, so i will not open it yet... maybe never, or at least not until i complete my collection of all 8 sets.
Also, does anyone know the BONUS ITEMS on the other sets, other than the Yankees (baseball), Dodgers (Bat) and Lakers (Signed Kobe Jersey)?
Thank you!
ES
Why not pay 5K yourself and purchase one and see what you get yourself?
