Considering that Beckett has a reputation for slabbing sheet-cut and even trimmed cards (and that they are handing out 9.5's like Cracker Jacks prizes these days), I would say no.
On the other hand, most of Beckett's rep is associated with BGS rather than the vintage side. I have had generally good luck crossing BVG to PSA, losing no more than 1 grade in the process (expected that) and even staying at par a fair number of times. Even so, personally I would not dare pay premium for 9.5 by anybody, never mind $9,900.
SMR for that card in PSA 9 is $350. Is the extra half-point, even if deserved, worth $9,550?
First off, BGS and BVG do not grade the same. I saw a BGS 1974 Topps Catfish Hunter go for somewhere around $3,000.00 a couple of years back. It might pull about $5,000.00 + if it was BGS 9.5 but not BVG.

I am confused. What was the grade on the Hunter? You say it could pull about $5,000+, do you mean the Rose? What is the difference in grading between BGS and BVG?
From what I understand, the BVG is graded more leniently based upon the age of the card where as the BGS cards are all graded the same regardless if it is a 2005 Topps Chrome or a 1909 Honus Wagner
The idea that BGS is a tougher grade than BVG is sorta amusing (unless you have a lot of BGS cards, then it's an idea you probably cling to with all your might.) Certainly fair to say that vintage cards, produced by antique methods, have an infinitely harder time pulling the same 9.5's that today's high-tech cards earn almost by default.
Not that anyone would try to, but I didn't think it was possible to get a 1909 card into a BGS holder. Beckett offers only BVG for cards produced before a certain year, maybe 1980, correct?
Yep, I remember seeing this at least one other time. No one is going to buy it now, either.
If you are looking to "invest" in 1975 Topps, especially 1975 Topps graded by Beckett, please come over next time we have a poker game. I'll save you a seat!
Anyways, that card is very nice looking, great color, etc. However, I don't have $10,000 to spend on card from the 70's. Don't have that to spend on cards period. But maybe some idiot diehard Rose fan will buy it, while drugged out that is.
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!
When Becketts first started, there was only BGS and they were brutal on vintage cards. Some time later, they started up BVG and, in my opinion, they overcorrected a bit.
You don't see many around any more, but a vintage card in a BGS holder can be an excellent buy...and I have had excellent luck crossing them over into higher grade slabs by both PSA and SGC.
take a look at BGS 0000311727 (Clemente Rookie, BGS-5) and PSA 30507211 (same card, in a PSA-6 holder...and a very strong 6, at that)
