Is PCGS running out of coins to grade?

Has the backlog disappeared?

Looks that way to me. Now NGC is taking forever to get a submission back. It took over
45 days to get my last economy back from NGC and less then a month to get my PCGS
    economy back.

It seems as though the people submitting under economy are getting their grades faster than me, for instance, submitting under regular and express image

Maybe there are less low value coins (e.g. economy) going to PCGS because a conservative grade doesn't justify the PCGS grading fee, and the low value coins are now going to NGC, and more high-value coins are going to PCGS and those are taking longer? Just an assumption here....

I don't know...I wish my 7 (express) and 15 (regular) grades would post as quick as the economy grades have been posting. People have been posting economy grades on orders that were received as late as 6/20 yet my "premium" orders, for which I pay more $$ aren't ready image Kind of bums me out.

I think they have done a good job at reducing the number of "small timers" that submit 4 coins at a time.

Are you kidding! I've never tried to count the numbers of coins that have already been produced, but they kkeep making more everyday.

My guess is PCGS has seen less than 1% of what's been produced.

    There's no shortage!

They have just scratched the surface as far as numbers to grade are concerned.
Also, I usually submit to PCGS first, and if the coin comes back lower than I want, I then crack it out and send in to NGC.
They usually grade about one point higher on modern. That is why I am careful about buying modern coins graded by NGC.
The other grading services are much worse.
ICG, AND SGS have little acceptance in the marketplace.

I'm also thinking that PCGS has really stepped it up in-house to be able to handle the load better.....

I have a submission in now and I'm hoping that they are still on the ball when they receive it!!!!image

I experienced a few faster than usual modern orders this spring, and a normal speed regular recently. I have several current modern orders in and they are running about right I think. I'm hoping that they've picked it up as sooner is better. image</FONT>
