Wow - crossover was successful!!

I'm thrilled!! My grades were just posted, and my 1958 Sonny Jurgensen SGC 84 crossed to a PSA 7!!!! I was extrememly nervous it wouldn't cross, but it is very nice with perfect centering and 3 slightly frayed corners, which are within tolerance for a PSA 7.

As a side note, there was a problem w/ the invoice and I called today to have it straightened out. The PSA rep said she would look into it and call me right back. Within an hour she returned my call, resolved the issue and my grade was posted. A++++ service all around.

Regards,

Greg M.

greg - don't you love when that happens? I crossed a '60 Morrell Alston from SGC 84 to PSA 7 too. In a perfect world, they should always cross. Did you crack it or submit it holdered?

I submitted it holdered. My thought was that if it didn't cross, I'd sell it for more in a SGC holder than if it was raw.

i am under the impression that if you send in for cross over PSA will not crack the slab unless it will indeed cross and or meet your min grade.

edited to add............I understand You did not crack it as you did not want it to possibly come back raw.......ok
    Good for you.

PSA has a much higher regard for SGC cards than those graded by that other company. With SGC you can use the crossover service and actually stand a fair chance of succeeding. That other company, forget it: It won't meet min. grade or will have evidence of trimming. PSA knows this without even looking. Cracking and submitting raw will level out the playing field again.

You make a very good point. I have actually had luck crossing SGC cards - a SGC 88 Dwight Stephenson rc just crossed to a PSA 9 and I've crossed many SGC 80 to 92's with an 80 to 85% success rate at crossing to the desired grade. However, this was my first time crossing in the holder. Kudos to PSA.

    Greg M.

PS - I wouldn't dream of crossing a GAI card especially in the holder.

  • congrats. A popular thread speaks to the quality of SGC graded cards and the prices they garner in the electronic marketplace. I still believe cracking is the way to go unless you think a higher grade is possible (ie SGC 86 vs a possible PSA 7 or even an 8!)...

again, nicely done... I am Skins fan and a Sonny fan...

Just curious as to why you crossed it to a PSA slab? Was it for the set registry?

Exactly - I needed it for the HOF rc set and didn't want to pay $300+ for a PSA 8.
