Hit the BIN (Seller says he won't sell)

on a 1896 Liberia 1 cent. What do you think of it? I don't figure I can go wrong on it considering it will only be around $7 after it is all paid for.image

I like and the coin will probably be nicer than the scan of the seller.

image He said he isn't going to sell it because of a listing error. He said he never uses BIN. It looks like he did to me. It is not my fault he left the auction going for 5 hours without noticing it. I think I would have noticed the mistake and fixed it way before I hit the BIN considering he only had 5 listings going.image

I think that the guy should honor his sale, unless there's a big difference in the value of the coin such that this is an obvious error on his part. He seems to be a big seller, and to nickel-dime you on this is pretty cheesy. Be the bigger man and tell him what he can do with his stupid coin.

I am thinking about sending him this email.

I would think that 5 hours would have been plenty of time to have gotten the error fixed. I know I would have checked over the listings for any errors after I had listed them. If you were listing hundreds of item I would see a reason for a mistake like this but you were only listing 5 items so why can't you sell this coin to me for that price and just learn from your mistake. I know that I would if I had done it.image

Do you think I should? I figure if I am going to NEG him I will at least wait until he leaves me feedback so he can't come at me with a neg since I did nothing wrong and he is.image

So what are these really selling for in UNC? Probably less than the price guide. I don't think that Kyle can be accused of "looking for a rip" here on a raw coin with a lousy scan. The price difference isn't that outlandish. If it's that much more important to a big seller to save $20 over his reputation, then I guess he's made his choice. I wouldn't bother with him.

I sent the email and asked him if he would be interested in selling at $10 or maybe work something out. I still wish he would honor the $5 BIN though since that is really what I bought the coin for.image

CoinAddict, I think it's generous on your part to offer even more than you half to. The seller advertised it for five bucks with BIN, and should honor that. If he won't even accept double that price, then I would leave a neg. You may get a retaliatory neg in return, but as I always say...that's why the feedback system exists in the first place. If you leave that feedback, it may cause a future buyer to think twice before trusting any of this seller's auction terms.

I say we hang the sucker! He listed it as a BIN and he should honor that. I'd leave a big fat neg too!!! Yes, I'd email and also tell him I'm leaving a big neg as well for his dishonest practice!!!!

Mistake or not, a big seller like that should honor the BIN. You can tell him you know several people who will boycott his auctions if he doesn't. image

The seller is being a weasel, no matter how mistaken he was in making the listing. I intend to keep him on my "do not purchase from on eBay" list until you advise he has honored the BIN. I'm sure I'm not alone here. Perhaps you might wish to link him to this thread....?

Yes I am wondering if the seller made good or not

No luck so far. He has yet to respond to the emails that I have sent him about the sale. I requested a total for the sale and one came to me but I am not sure if he sent it or it is an automatic things that happens when requested through eBay. Do any of you know if it is automatic or not?image
  • There is a "non-paying bidder" complaint on ebay. There should also be a complaint for a seller that refuses to complete the deal. I'd just neg the crap out of him.
