My QV Young Head 1856 Copper Date Set

I finally added the wee farthing to complete the 1856 Vic coppers. Please note, the farthing was cracked from it's "plastique" confines......ahhhh! such a fine feeling to free Victoria from her bonds. image

Cheers, and have a Happy, Healthy, and Joyous 4th.

    The farthing is my fave.

Gorgeous coins bud. Any reason in particular you picked 1856?

Why 1856? No real reason. 3-4 years ago I was presented with an opportunity to buy the 'biggie' in the group, the penny. The ha'penny followed shortly, and I've been looking for a proper match since then.

I also have all three in dated 1853, but it's not nearly as difficult a year.......and, now looking for a true gem 1859 penny!! Anyone?

Actually, anything in the 1850s in any denom.....I started with copper, and I guess they can use them to keep my eyelids closed when I've checked out from the Numis Hotel. image

Busy weekend, but I'll try to marry the reverse shots later.

Mac, I can see why you fell in love with that babe! image The coins are awesome, even with the fingerprints on the half penny and penny. I think my favorite is the farthing, due to the lack of any detracting marks, as well as the beautiful hue of blue. Next is the half penny, due to the full strike, luster, virtually perfect surfaces and even toning. The penny has more red, but it somehow doesn't grab me like the others.

They're all fabulous pieces. Although the penny is the prize of the set, the 1856 farthing is not so easy so nice either.
