1944-S Philippine centavo doubling

While searching coin sites, I came upon tbirdes error site. In it he shows a 1944-S Philippine centavo with hub doubling on the word STATES I got three of the coins in RB Unc. last week and when I took a look at them, all had this doubling. Is this very common or did I just happen to get coins from the same set of dies?

Here's the site if you want to take a look...link

  • Neat find!......
  • Congratulations, Blackhawkthey must be beautiful! I am currently admiring my friend's collection of the US-Philippine series. Lemme check...
  • Yes, there is doubling on my friend's 1944-S centavo too! That makes 4, in UNC that have the same doubling. I'm not certain if this is common, my friend Justhaving fun would be the person to ask.
  • Very interesting. I have a roll of these lying around someplace, either here (Bangkok) or in Manila. Right after breakfast I'll see if can find 'em. If they're here, we can give you a quick assessment about how commonplace this variety is.

    Cordially,
