how popular is 85 topps football???

it has remnants of 1971 topps baseball in it.....great set, alot of HOFers, no tough rookie cards. I cant think of a big time 1971 topps baseball RC...but alot of tough HOFers due to centering and how tough it is.

Why do you like 1985 topps football????

I like the simple design and sideways names ... although it forces PSA to put the card in the holder upside-down in order to get the sideways name right-side up!

  • i think axtell is working on a set so he'd know

i'm not a big football guy, but if i ever did a set, i'd prefer '62 topps black-borders as '85 is a bit too modern for my taste...

  • I love the 85's. Sent in some from my original collection and was pleased with grades.

Spent a lot of money on cello and wax boxes in the past year, however, and did not get near my investment out of them!

Oh well, beautiful cards, nonetheless. Thumbs up.

    Good luck . . .

Everyone knows my (painful) obssession with black bordered cards.

The 85 set is an inredible one. Second year cards of Marino and Elways, the incredible photography, the team cards are to die for, simple design that was a classic from the time it was released, and looks as good today as it did then, and the already mentioned number of HoF players.

Buying packs is a risky proposition, as they are super sensitive to edge damage. I've had good luck picking up graded cards on ebay. My goal is a set rating of 8.50 should be attainable, by acquiring the stars in 9 and the rest in 8.

I need an Elway 9 though...haven't seen one on ebay in months!
