SPORTSCARD GUARANTY AND JAMES SPENCE JOIN FORCES
Leading sports memorabilia firms offer combined authentication and grading services for autographed trading cards
PARSIPPANY, N.J., June 28, 2005- Two leading names in sports memorabilia have joined forces to offer combined grading and authentication services for autographed trading cards. The alliance was announced jointly by Dave Forman, president of Sportscard Guaranty, LLC (SGC), and James Spence of James Spence Authentication, LLC (JSA).
SGC is a premier sports card authenticator and grader known for its accuracy and consistency. Founded in 1998 and headquartered in Parsippany, N.J., the company provides independent, third-party appraisal of trading card condition, the single most important factor in determining a card's value.
JSA is recognized worldwide as the industry authority for autograph authentication. World-renowned auction houses employ the services of James Spence to insure the legitimacy and affirm the value of their autographed offerings.
"Countless collectors have turned to Jimmy Spence to authenticate their treasured collectibles, and we are pleased to align our name with his", Forman noted. "Autograph authentication is a natural extension of our services and one that we are pleased to offer to our valued client base."
Spence concurred, "SGC has an outstanding reputation among card hobbyists as a trustworthy source for grading", he said. "The partnership is a great match, and we look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with Dave Forman and his team."
Each trading card submitted to SGC is examined by three expert graders before being encapsulated in a sealed, tamper-resistant plastic holder. Acid-free, museum-quality black paper is custom-cut to frame the card, and an insert lists the card's year, quality and SGC certification number. Autographed cards will now feature the JSA trademark and autograph certification number as well.

GO MARLINS! Home of the best fans in baseball!!
Thank you for the 'late breaking news flash' Knuckles.
Here's a couple of others : Boston won the World Series and the Titanic sunk.
"How about a little fire Scarecrow ?"
Why would this thread have to go poof? The fact that SGC is contracting with Spence to do some authenticating is fact and should be accepted by PSA. Spence is still running an independent company for authentication. He is advertising in SCD:
From what I have read, his departure from PSA was amicable and he wanted to have his own company.
The fact that another company wants to use his service is understandable.
Unless I have missed something.

<< <i>I apologise if this was a repost. >>
Cheer up Knucks
Everyone has done this at one time or another. I once added to a thread some info that I pulled from the internet on Alan Hager and didn't realize that the guy relating the thread was the author!!!
Talk about singing to the choir!!

<< <i>Goes to show how desperate SGC is to have to hire a no name like Jack Spence. Does he have any credentials like the TRAINED and CERTIFIED forensic document examiners at PSA/DNA? I doubt it. >>
Uh, you're joking, right?.
Dogs aren't even that loyal...
