Couldn't he at least wiped his kid's nose before taking a picture, kid looks like it had the flu or something? Nice bunch of non-sense, what kind of hockey cards from what year am I going to get??
Edited: I did not read the whole text so if there is some type of issue with the kid, then my bad and my apology if this is true.
2nd Edit: After going back and reading thouroghly this like I should have the first time, I would have to think that this is legit. For someone to go thru and do all of what they have posted and written and etc. I find it hard to believe that it is a scam. Maybe I am nieve, I hope for the sake of who ever the pictures are of, they are not scamming anyone.
I think there are better ways than using Ebay for Propaganda for your child's disease. Part of our family went through the experience of having their baby each day for 8 months on the edge of living or dying at Loma Linda Heart Center. They didn't put their baby up for auction saying--our baby has a whole in it's heart, please buy my golf clubs. The baby passed away almost 9 years now and they have their debt down to around $100,000. This is what still remains from the medical bills 9 years ago.
Very sorry to hear Carew, but very cool of you to share.
I certainly would like to believe the legitimacy of the e-bay auction, but I don't trust myself, let alone this cruddy picture of some rug rats muggin for the camera...

i hope the best for the little girl in the pictures.. i hope this isnt a fraud auction, but of course i'm a bit skeptical.. but if i were the parent, i would also be using EVERY resource available to me whether it be charities, ebay, or anything else..
if it is indeed true, i see nothing wrong with it..
Option 1) You believe the story. If it turns out to be true, you made the right call. If it turns out to be a scam, well then, you got scammed. Big deal.
Option 2) You don't believe the story. If it turns out to be a scam, you've made a savvy choice. But if it turns out to be true, you feel like a total tool.
On the balance, I would rather get scammed then feel like a tool. But that's just me.
The pictures obviously show a child in varying stages of misery. God bless the kid, whoever she belongs to, and hopefully she will continue to receive the necessary treatment.
If she were mine I would have no problem taking advantage of any resource to pay the medical bills.
If it's a fraud, then the outcome is not my decision. These people are dealt with down the road in ways that exact the correct punishment.
Thanks for sharing carewforme. I donate time to a couple of local hospitals mostly with asthmatic kids. My nephew now 19 almost died 7 years ago from an attack. Doctors always believe that there has to be a symptom for the cause. My nephew proved them wrong. He will always be one to carry a couple of inhalers for the rest of his life. We had to fight through middle school and high school for him just so he could carry them on his person and not be left in the nurses office. Alot of good that inhaler is going to do you when it is on the other side of the campus. As for the auction, i agree that you should be your own judge and jury to the validity of it. I would prefer to donate my money to my own community.
Have a safe 4th of July
PS. Carewforme-- i still have yet to see a Red Barn Carew anywhere.

It is perhaps even sadder that the comments here are of doubt and cynicism.

Don't you belong in the Open Forum? I agree with Carew29.
Edit: There was a quote from Carew29's thread on altidman thread, were did it go??
My gripe with altidman was calling someone a moron for there opinion! But that has been edited off by him.

Thanx for the advice.
But, I think it would have been better received if you were a regular here.

They have spent alot of time trying to dupe you into buying a $1.79 card.
I feel very sorry for the little girl so I am going to conatct the father and ask how I can help more than $1.79.
I have a healthy 8 yr old son and i make good money. You have to share your blessings folks.
I understand your doubts but they dont seem to trying to scam anyone, they seem like desperate parents. Big Difference.
Help the family out, I'll bet you feel better because of it.
You spend more on lunch everyday. I am going to find some cards to auction off to help this kid after I speak with the parents.
And I am going to send some cash.
Knuckles, thanks for the unitentional heads up. Your pessimism(which I understand to a point) may help this kid after all.
Loves me some shiny!
